BLURB:
The son of a famous movie star, Mercury Morrison is used to all eyes being on him. So of course he’s grown up to be one of London’s premier influencers, with followers across the globe.
But when Mercury finds himself on the wrong side of the law after a run-in with a paranoid concept artist at the Tate Modern, it all comes crashing down. The worst bit is, he’s innocent! Advised to plead guilty, he dutifully arrives for his first day of community service at a youth project in South London…and walks slap-bang into his new boss, the handsome Nick Campbell.
The attraction between them is instant and electric. Romance may be on the cards but this summer is going to shake Mercury’s whole view on life to its foundations. Can Mercury take the huge leap of faith needed to make his dreams come true, and, if he dares, will Nick be there to catch him?
REVIEW:
Note: This is the seventh book in this series. As such, it does contain some spoilers for the previous books. That being said it’s not required to have read the previous books although I do recommend them all. They set the stage for a number of the common supporting characters in this story.
Mercury Morrison is out for a night with his friend for an Art Exhibit opening. He’s an influencer with a hangover and he’s not complimentary to the artist. He ends up getting framed for a crime he did not commit. But nobody’s too interested in the truth as it turns out. Not his lawyer and not his famous actress mother who just wants him to lay low and do his community service after he pleads guilty.
Well then he he assigned to Bohdi house. Not in the best neighborhood. Nick Campbell who is assigned as his supervisor is none too keen on the spoiled rich boy. But Mercury ends up enjoying the work and the kids. He has to work on Nick though 😉 No spoilers, but can Mercury grow up and figure out who he really is and what he really wants? Not the movie star’s son, not the influencer, but the real Mercury. You’ll have to read it to find out.
I really enjoy this series! There is also something going on in Queens Crescent. Revisiting the Mrs. Wimpole and the Professor as well as some of the previous couples from earlier books is always a treat 🙂 Mercury goes though a lot of personal growth in this story. He starts out as a bit of a spoiled brat frankly and doesn’t take life all that seriously. But when he has to do community service, he’s not happy about it. Once he’s involved though with the kids though, his eyes are opened up. He has a lot to learn as he steps outside of his privileged background a life. Luckily he’s up to the task and he is able to worth things out with Nick 😉 This is another lovely heartfelt story with an HEA that is worth the trip. As usual, there is a nice balance of humor and pathos and growing up and characters figuring out who they really are and what the really want and need. Highly recommended.
