BLURB:
One surprise visit changes everything, and three men find out what it means to need.
Problems come in threes. That’s why Riley Sinclair has two rules in life: no relationships and no inviting anyone into his home. Then a woman claiming to be his biological sister waltzes into his life, he finds himself in the arms of one of his detectives, and his sister’s best friend decides to pay him a visit—a man who instantly gets under his skin and makes Riley want to do bad things to him. Three is a terrible number.
Gideon Clark is openly bisexual, recently divorced, and trying to figure out what his life looks like now and how to fit in time with his son. He doesn’t expect his new life to include his boss and another man who brings with him an intense complication.
Dawson Sheppard only wanted to confront the man who’d made his best friend cry—he definitely didn’t mean to sleep with him. He can’t tell his best friend what he’s doing behind her back, and he can’t make himself stop what he’s started with two men who turn him inside out. Now what is he supposed to do?
They can’t let go of each other, and secrets are slowly building. They’re breaking the rules, and they’re going to have to make choices about what matters most and what’s more important than need.
More than Need is an MMM romance that is set in the Chain Reaction universe but can be read as a standalone. It contains steamy situations, a newly divorced main character (not hostile), and on-page discussions of main-character adoption. There’s also plenty of banter, heat, and a swoony HEA.
REVIEW:
A new spin-off series from one of my favorite authors in the Poly World. No one does non-paranormal poly like Aurora Crane! I love her men and the more the better!
Riley Sinclair has rules for a reason. And those rules must never be broken. However, when a bombshell is dropped in his lap, and the man he has been secretly crushed on for years is standing there holding him as he shatters, that rule of no fraternization with his detectives flew right out the door with that hug and first kiss. And when his sister, that he never knew about nor wanted to, drunk best friend (Dawson Sheppard) show up to challenge him (with Gideon Clark still by his side) life is about to change drastically and all he can hope is that everything he and Gideon worked so hard for in their careers doesn’t blow up to smithereens!
Getting to know Riley, who is a key figure in many of the connected series was awesome. We know him at Quinn’s boss and previous partner. We know him as Peyton’s big brother. We also know him as Grady’s boss. And now we know him as Gideon and Dawson’s lovers.
WOW! What a ride this one is. We are learning more and more about the Sinclair family dynamics and got to see and hear from many of them in this book. It was also a huge plus for me to get to see Sebastian and Riley, who are long time best friends, interact more. The scene where Seb arrives unannounced at the precinct after Riley skipped their time together to break bread the day before was one of my most favorite scenes. I don’t know how Seb managed to even try and keep a straight face. And then later, Quinn confronting Riley on who’s desk that transgression was happening on was priceless too! I was thrilled to see at least three of my fabulous five make appearances. We also got an appearance by Darcy, one of the footy players from forward entry and discovered a tidbit about him and Forest too! 😉 Turns out Darcy is besties with Dawson and Sadie (Riley’s blood sister). One of these days I need to map out a chart on how all these books intersect. But I truly love that this is one big universe and all these honorable men are related by either careers, blood/family, best friends or significant others. I also loved how Riley and Dawson took to Gideon’s son Hudson and he to them.
I love Author Aurora Crane’s books and especially her poly books. She can write a sex scene with 3-4-5-6 participants and you know, and can totally visualize where every single man is, where their lips, hands, legs and genitalia is at every moment. Her books and scenes are so detailed and precise that I am never lost.
I can tell that this book/series are destine to be not only a fan favorite but also dear to me. I can’t wait for more with these three!
