REVIEW:
This quirky paranormal romance features a unique blend of humour and shifter dynamics. The book is very tongue in cheek and doesn’t take itself very seriously. It’s a fun, easy read which is whimsical and funny.
The story revolves around Ricky, a pole dancing rhubarb, and Burke, a mini bull shifter. Initially both are clueless about the other and wonder why they are constantly thinking about each other. Ricky is an omega and Burke, a beta, it was refreshing to have the main characters be omega and beta rather than the usual omega and alpha combination. Burke tries to impress Ricky with his pole-climbing skills. It’s so funny to imagine a bull climbing a pole, a rickety, rusty pole when he has no clue what he is doing. Then he gets stuck and falls flat on his face, it is ridiculous but very funny.
Ricky is a very talented pole dancer and uses his assets to his advantage once he realises that Burke is attracted to him. Ricky’s life as a pole dancer adds a unique flair to his character, making his interactions with Burke both humorous and endearing.
Burke is determined and a bit oblivious when it comes to romance. His attempts to impress Ricky with his pole-climbing skills are both comical and touching. As a mini bull shifter, Burke brings an interesting dynamic to the story, blending his shifter abilities with his beta status.
Set in the whimsical town of Valentine Growville, the quirky inhabitants of the town add depth and humor to the story, creating a vibrant backdrop for Ricky and Burke’s romance. The plot follows their amusing and awkward attempts to navigate their fated attraction. As they figure out their mating ritual, they also face external threats that add a layer of suspense to the story. The suspense of who is trying to kidnap the rhubarb’s and why, is slowly being revealed and enables all the residents to band together to protect and find out what is going on.
