REVIEW:
This is a really funny, quirky, tongue in cheek book, suspend your belief at the door and dive in. It is ridiculous, but in the best way, I laughed all the way through.
The story revolves around Maximus, an alpha lion shifter, who moves to the quirky town of Valentine Growville with his pride. The pride is made up of different shifters who have been ostracised by their original pride, they are loyal to each other and determined to find somewhere they are accepted. Will this town which has an obsession with rhubarb but appears to be horrified by crumble be the place they can call home.
Maximus’s life takes an unexpected turn when he meets his fated mate, Tim is sassy, quirky and has a unique way of getting Maximus to acknowledge him. He knows what he wants and is persistent in achieving it. Despite their differences, Tim is determined to win over Maximus, leading to a series of humorous and heartwarming events. The image of Tim singing all the different songs in his attempt to woo Maximus made me laugh. Tim walking down the street shaking his booty encouraging everyone to join in. He is the life and soul of the party who uses humour and song to get his way and to also cheer everyone up. No-one can be sad when Tim is around.
The relationship between Tim and Maximus develops through a mix of humour, persistence, and overcoming challenges. These light-hearted scenes help to build a bond between them. As they spend more time together, Maximus begins to appreciate Tim’s unique qualities. Their relationship deepens as they share personal stories and vulnerabilities. The visual of Tim sleeping in the earth was so funny but appropriate, where else would rhubarb sleep. Max finding the perfect place for them to be together was a heart melting moment.
The couple faces external threats that test their bond. These challenges force them to rely on each other, strengthening their connection and trust. Through their journey, Maximus learns to accept his feelings for Tim, and they both embrace their fated mate bond, leading to a heartfelt and satisfying relationship.
I loved that when Max realises that Tim is in trouble he is straight there, doesn’t give a damm about the town or anything but getting to Tim and making sure he is alright. They are such a cute loving couple despite appearing to be so different, but in reality, they are made for each other, Fate knows their business pairing these two together.
The book combines elements of romance, humor, and paranormal fantasy, making it a unique and entertaining read.
