When Oliver applied for a job in the Hell dimension on a whim, he didn’t expect it to turn his whole world—or his heart—entirely upside down.
Recently graduated at twenty-six, and two months behind on rent, Oliver Barnes is desperate. So desperate, in fact, that he applies for a job in the Greed district of Hell’s Pentagram. But when he misses his train and, subsequently, his job interview, he stumbles, instead, upon a strange little coffee shop in the middle of Purgatory’s barren desert—and into an unexpected opportunity.
It isn’t the job he came to Hell for, but maybe it’s exactly the job he needs.
As he navigates the demon dimension and tries to survive the ridiculous shenanigans of his unholy co-workers, Oliver soon falls head-over-ass for a tentacled lawyer with electric fingers and a deadly-sharp grin. Together, they discover that, sometimes, love and happiness can be just a train ride away.
Join Oliver and the rest of the eccentric staff of The Passing Through Cafe in Nik Knight’s new rom-com urban fantasy series, full of found family, embarrassing encounters, spicy situations, and love that crosses dimensions
REVIEW:
How on earth (or Hell) should I review a story that’s full of activity and with so so many different things?
The Hell dimension created on and around the earth was wonderful, the creatures are diverse and extraordinary.
The main character is the twenty-six-year-old human Oliver Barnes who stumbled into a job in Purgatory, and somewhere further in the story we meet thirty-one-year-old Demon Liel, who lives on the east side of Gluttony and works as a corporate lawyer.
Missing his train meant for Oliver also missing his job interview and thereby the job.
But… by missing the train he got stuck in Purgatory’s The Passing Through Café and got a job offer there. He took it with both hands.
You have to know this cafe isn’t run by humans, Oliver is the only one. It’s also an empty in-between place, separating the human from Hell’s dimension. When you meet his colleagues ha!! So precious!
One night Oliver meets Liel, there is an instant attraction!
They are so adorable together, respectful, and vulnerable, don’t expect them to jump each other instantly, it’s quite at a slow pace, but the way they connect on different levels, they are just so adorable!
What a combination, their anatomy is completely different, a human and a demon creature with a … just read it yourself.
At times I was laughing out loud because the humor was fabulous, at times acceptable way ott, I had to stop reading now and then to keep breathing lol.
It’s all so brilliantly put together that everything I say about it will not do justice.
Brilliant piece of writing!
