REVIEW:
Note: This is the third book in this series and it doesn’t work as a standalone. Reading in order is required.
When we last left Sebastian and James, they were stuck in town and there was Sebastian was down for the count after blowing up the darkness that covered Moonlight Falls. James is worried sick when it takes Sebastian so long to wake up and he continues to have such bad headaches. But just because they won this particular battle doesn’t mean the war is over. By a long shot.
There are more dangers lurking – and not just from the shades. There are possessed people, possessed animals, even possessed carcasses to deal with. And everyone who learns the secret of what’s going on is also trapped and tongue ties about it as well. This leads to some pretty bad feelings and anger – and it’s mostly directed at Sebastian. This is kind of maddening since he’s the one who managed to save the town from the darkness. But it’s clear that there is a lot more going on with the magic lines.
Things at Storm House are getting weird too. And the attacks in town rise once again leaving everyone vulnerable – but particularly focused on Sebastian, James, Eli and Parker. They keep doing their best, but they just can’t figure out what the answer is to reversing the curse.
Then Sebastian and James have an idea about reaching out to someone outside the town. Surprisingly when a blast from the past shows up, there still aren’t any clear answers. But maybe there is enough of a clue for them to try again at Storm House to see if they can reverse whatever is happening with the magic and the curse that is opening the gateway. The sacrifice might be too much for anyone to handle though.
I enjoyed this last book in the series although to be honest, there were a few parts when the story dragged for me. There is certainly plenty of action and lots of scary moments. James and Sebastian are still forging their way ahead. They are doing the best they can for each other and are dedicated to being together and protecting each other from all the bad things that keep happening. Together they are able to come up with a plan that just may satisfy the curse and give then both back their lives as well as the lives of the others in Moonlight Falls. There are plenty of tender moments as well. James and Sebastian deserve their very hard fought HEA.
