Sometimes you have to fight for true love….
When my boyfriend dumps me to find someone more “serious” in law school, I’m devastated but not defeated. I just have to show him I have brains as well as brawn, right?
Thankfully, my best friend Jordan is ready and willing to help me get into law school and prove myself. Only when I get there, ready to reclaim my man, Clay’s move on.
To the snarkiest gay boy I’ve ever met.
And they’re engaged!
It’s a terrible shock, but Jordan keeps me going. When I’m ostracized from a study group, he helps me prepare for exams. When I’m set up to make a fool of myself at a college party, he’s there to rescue me.
I land an internship to work on a real legal case, so it seems it’s all paid off. And most surprising of all? I love this lawyering thing!
Clayton, on the other hand, is looking less appealing by the day.
Jordan is the one I want to talk to morning and night. The one I can count on to support me. The one who…I really want to kiss?
Whoa. Maybe it’s time to review the evidence and decide once and for all.
Have I been fighting for the wrong man? And will Jordan forgive me that justice has been so blind?
Because I’m pretty sure of the verdict now.
I’ve fallen in love with my best friend.
Legally Brawn is Book 3 of the Rom-Com Reboot series, in which classic Hollywood rom-coms get an M/M spin, along with some heat and a satisfying HEA!
REVIEW:
Another winner in this series! I felt like somehow Facebook knew I was ready this book this last week because I kept getting clips of Legally Blonde in my feed! Like at least 10 of them. Hmmmm. Anyway, this is a delightful spin on this classic.
Ellis Woods is a personal trainer. He’s got a degree in nutrition but he loves his job helping people with their fitness. He’s got a boyfriend, Clay who he thinks is going to pop the question. Cue the “duh, duh duh” and instead Clay takes him out to a nice restaurant to tell him he’s had fun, but now he needs to move on to find a serious partner now that he’s going to be a lawyer. Ellis is devastated. But then he comes up with a plan. HE will get into law school too and show Clay that he can be serious and the right partner.
Jordan is Ellis’s best friend. He’s getting an MBA also while he’s finishing Law School. He agrees to help Ellis with his prep for the LSATs and lo and behold, Ellis gets in. He IS smart and nobody just gives him enough credit. Jordan is determined to help Ellis succeed. At least in Law School. He certainly doesn’t want him to win back Clay – and just just because was an awful BF who didn’t deserve him. But secretly Jordan is in love with this best friend. UGH! How can he make sure he keeps this secret? It won’t be easy because all of their mutual friends can already see it. The only oblivious one is Ellis 😉
While Ellis is trying to make Clay jealous though after a mean trick played by his fiance Victor, it seems that Jordan and Ellis finally light the match to the flame is potentially burning between them. Jordan is scared though and ghosts Ellis. Ellis is determined to come clean with Jordan. He gets some help from their friends and all is not lost!
Simply adorable! El is a golden retriever of a character. Sweet. Charming. Caring. Jordan is focused on school and very analytical. He’s good at school and as a TA and Law intern. But he’s not exactly happy. This unrequited love for Ellis has him resigned to being alone. Luckily El’s ex is a total douche canoe and by the time Ellis finally realizes it too, he also recognizes that Jordan is more than his best friend. The banter between the characters and especially Victor, the new man in Clay’s life are hilarious. These two were so cute with their missed connections and Ellis finally realizing what he wanted and needed was right in front of him all along. Jordan’s self-deprecation was sweet in its own way and I loved seeing him open up to Ellis when the time was right. Adorable. Sweet. Funny. Justice is served 😀 Recommended to anyone who loves a good romantic comedy.
