Nate Cloverdale’s life was organized to the Nth degree. From the time he woke until the time he went to bed, promptly at midnight. He knew what his day would entail from start to finish.
Relationships would fail, his bar would not and with that attitude it was no wonder his grouchy ass remained unattached.
Kit, no last name, and not because he was famous, but because he was the son of free-spirited parents who felt surnames didn’t define you. Thankfully, they didn’t feel the same about a first. Growing up in a commune full of like-minded adults, he couldn’t wait to get out and explore the world.
Hitchhiking between towns, he never stayed in longer than a couple of months. This trip landed Kit in Foggy Basin. A quick glance around the local businesses, Kit knew odds were he’d find work and stay for a bit while he saved up enough to move on.
Pints ‘n Pool is an opposites attract, grumpy-sunshine tale of two men who were so wrong for each other that they couldn’t be more right. Hopefully, they pull their heads out of their asses before it’s too late.
Welcome to Foggy Basin. Just passing through? No problem. Here to stay, well, better find your place. Sit back, relax and get to know the townsfolk. They love hard and play even harder. Each book is a standalone but why not stay and get to know us and read them all.
REVIEW:
You know those times in your life where you just need something uplifting and warms your heart? Well this book is made for that moment. It made me giggle and laugh. It made me drop a couple happy tears. It made me want to move to Foggy Basin and embrace that small town life where people care and look out for each other.
Nate Coverdale’s life is very predictable. He lives in the small town of Foggy Basin. He owns the local bar that he inherited from his granddad free and clear. He has rooms for rent above the bar for additional income plus RV parking for the summer lake visitors. And he has the house right behind his bar that he bought from his parents when they retired and took off RVing across the country. But when a sweet young man named only Kit, because he grew up in a commune where sir names weren’t a thing, comes looking for a temporary job he suddenly realizes that his boring life needs a companion and Kit is it!
This was a sweet instalove book that just worked. Part of it is how all the townsfolk’s are up in your business. But it’s because deep down they care about their neighbors and only want the best for them. And Kit is exactly what the gruff bartender needed on his life and they all recognized that. If you have never experienced small town living this is very much a thing. At least in the small Oregon coastal town I spent so much time in growing up. And let me tell you, you don’t ever want to get on the wrong side of those gossips! I loved that all these businesses in this sleepy town have such cute names.
There are some pretty terrific side characters that made this book. Both Nate’s parents, especially his mom, and Kit’s mom were perfect Mom’s! In your face and you had better listen up when they were on a roll and hope you survive. But it was Merle, Nate’s grandparent’s best friend, that stole the book. He was quick with his wit and it was obvious that he loved Nate like he was his own. And I loved that this town was so open and accepting of the two of them, Nate and Kit, together.
This book has a very mild daddy theme. There is no age play and it feed Nate’s protective nature while allowing Kit to learn to trust and lean on his Daddy.
I am excited to dive into more of these books by some of my favorite authors and get to know the other shop owners better. If you are looking for a feel-good book that makes you feel all fuzzy and warm inside this is a great choice!
