BLURB: Would you rather be alone in the wilderness with a naked stranger or a wild wolf?
Rhett
Wasn’t finding your fated mate supposed to be easy? A done deal?
I always thought so, but here I was, facing problems I’d never thought I’d have to handle. How did one tell their human fated mate that the friendly wolf he’d relied on for days was, in fact, a shifter and destined to be the love of his life?
Dumping all the information on him in the middle of a storm while my mate feared for his life definitely wasn’t my brightest idea.
But I’m trying to make up for that. I’m listening to him, giving him time and space, but dammit… I want him by my side.
Can I ever make him mine?
Levi
I can’t believe my scumbag of a manager just left me in the middle of the Canadian wilderness to survive on my own for a week. I have no survival skills. A backpack full of stuff I don’t know how to use won’t change that. If it wasn’t for the weirdly smart and friendly wolf showing me the ropes, I’d be lost. I know how that sounds, but I swear I’m not crazy.
What am I supposed to do when said wolf turns out the be a man who is convinced I’m the love of his life?
Everything I ever knew about the world is thrown for a spin, and I find myself in the middle of a new world I don’t know how to navigate.
REVIEW: This was a very sweet shifter story about Rhett, second to the Alpha of the pack, and Levi, a young man who thought he was going on a modeling job, only to be abandoned by his manager in what felt like the wilderness. Luckily for Levi, Rhett came upon him while out on patrol. Unfortunately, Rhett was in wolf form and not knowing how to best navigate making the switch to human in a way that Levi wouldn’t freak out, found ways to help Levi survive until the choice was taken from him. Rhett knew from the get go that they were fates mates so that made navigating the situation a bit trickier.
The story mainly focuses on the fates mates and Rhett getting Levi to understand the meaning and accepting it without pushing it on him. Levi learns about the shifter world fairly quickly and takes to it well, although the mates thing took a bit longer.
There are a few side stories going on as well, i.e. the situation with Levi’s manager and the growing issues with the magic wall that keeps the shifter world somewhat hidden from the real one. The first comes to a head fairly quickly at the end, although we never really understand the motives behind it. The wall issue we are given bits and pieces about and we know there are issues but not much beyond that.
We meet a number of other pack members but beyond Gray and a few others being mentioned, they don’t actually play much of a role. This story ends on a bit of a cliffy, although our fates mates are doing well and seem to be fine with their relationship. All in all, this was an easy read and sweet story. It didn’t blow me away, but it was enjoyable. I wish it had been a bit more fleshed out in certain directions but for a first book in a series, it is a good start. The next book looks to be about Gray and Nix, two of the more interesting characters we have already met, so I am looking forward to continuing this growing story.
