Husbands Aidan Talley and Jameson Walker team up again as Agents Irish & Whiskey for their most precarious case yet in this established couple gay romantic suspense novel.
FBI agent Aidan Talley just wanted to spend the holiday weekend cheering on his husband’s basketball team. Instead, he’s investigating a cargo theft for the family business and coming face-to-face with a loose end from the case that almost tore him and Jamie apart.
Coach Jameson Walker may spend his days on the sidelines now, but Jamie refuses to stay there when it comes to his husband. When Aidan is cornered by his past, Jamie will do whatever it takes to ground him in the present, including stepping back into his hacker shoes for the Bureau.
Aidan and Jamie thought they’d seen it all, but the City of Angels has more than one ghost in store for them. As revenge and redemption collide, Agents Irish and Whiskey will have to trust in their love and their partnership to solve the case for the family they have, for the one they lost, and for the one they want to call their own.
Angel’s Share is the final book in the Agents Irish and Whiskey LGBTQIA+ romantic suspense series. While it can be read as a standalone, it is best enjoyed after reading the other books in the series.
REVIEW:
Note: I know the note says can be read as a standalone, but I do not recommend that. These stories build from the first book, Single Malt and I think because of the very large number of characters here, it will get pretty confusing as to who everyone is without having read at least the first three books.
Aidan Talley, FBI SAC of the San Francisco office and his husband Jamie Walker, who has left the FBI and is now an assistant basketball coach for a local college, are in LA for a holiday basketball tournament that Jamie’s team is playing in. Mel and Danny, Aidan’s brother and sister-in-law are there too along with some other family and friends. Things are going great. Until there is a call that there has been a theft of come valuable cargo from one of the Talley ships in the Long Beach shipyard. The cargo and the truck are missing and the client is none too happy.
Of course it’s all hands on deck to help them get the cargo back and find the thieves. Aidan, the FBI, the local police, etc. are all on the case. Even Jamie jumps back in to help on the case. But things get very complicated quickly when it appears that Aidan’s godson that he hasn’t seen in years may be involved. This case pulls Aidan back to the past and his life before Jamie and the case that had them originally assigned as partners. Jamie is there for him and they have their relationship to rely on.
I don’t want to spoil the story here, but suffice to say it is again another rollercoaster ride of events and surprises that keep our intrepid heroes on their toes. There is a lot of action and suspense and of course plenty of steam between this couple who have only grown their love and relationship over the five years of their marriage. There is plenty of romance in this “romantic suspense” story too. These husbands are each other’s rocks.
What a great send-off for some beloved characters and a favorite series world that Layla Reyne has created. I remember when I read the first book in this series back in April 0f 2017 I knew this would be an author and series to watch. I have loved every book in this series. Ms. Reyne does a fantastic job with the whole romantic suspense genre. Aidan and Jamie really are a lovely couple and they are truly there for each other when the chips are down. For fans of the series, there are loads of past friends and family who appear in this one who help our couple get through this trying time. There is even more potential growth for Jamie and Aidan’s own family in the end 😉 These two have been wonderful to watch grow in their love and devotion over this series and although I’m a little sad that this series appears to be over, hopefully there is the opportunity for more spin-off stories from some of the support characters to get their own HEAs. I would hate to think were really completely done with the entire Whiskeyverse. 😉 Looking at you Ms. Reyne 😀 Highly recommended.
