Have you always thought you were special?
Perennially unemployed loner Nick Sedgewick applies to an online job opening with that exact phrase and expects nothing to come of it. It was likely a no-so-funny prank after all.
If Doug ‘Long Shot’ Swanson wanted a new work partner he’d hire one himself. He’s perfectly happy on his own and if he plays his cards right he’ll retire sooner rather than later. And he certainly wouldn’t hire an irritating spicy-candy-eating slacker who’d probably miss his own funeral.
But somebody is killing off agents and Nick’s new boss needs Doug and Nick to figure out who it is and put a stop to it. And if they accidentally fall in love along the way that is no one’s business but their own.
Neither man wants to be a hero. But maybe between the two of them, they can save the world. Or at least their little corner of it.
In the Nick of Time is a part of the multi-author Subpar Superheroes MM romance series
REVIEW:
Nick is sweet and kind and he is always looking for something to make his life better, but he never seems to catch a break. Until he meets Doug, his new boss.
Doug is just biding his time. Have a “super” talent isn’t all it’s cracked up to be and he’s tired and ready to run for the hills…literally.
These guys are so damn cute! I loved Nick from the beginning. He’s trying so hard to figure out where he belongs and he really does run in to some crazy situations along the way. Like his new tortise friend Tim!
Doug is lonely and bored and needs something to spice up his life. Turns out, all he needs is Nick!
This a great little story. It’s short but it doesn’t leave you wanting for anything except to maybe spend some more time following Nick and Doug around.
This is a crazy world they live in, where a lot of people have “super” traits. Some know it, some don’t. Some do their darndest to use them for nefarious purposes and it’s Doug’s job to figure our who they are and what they’re up to.
I love some of the ideas this author came up with. I’ve read some of their stuff before so I’m not surprised at how much I enjoyed it.
I have’t read any other books in this series, but I might, just to see how they compare. Each books is done by a seperate author so there’s bound to be something for everyone.
This story is gonna leave you smiling…and probably needing a cold shower but that’s okay! We all need a little spice in our life!
This is a short story, so I can’t say much, but I will say that after Doug and Nick, Tim is my favorite character. Trust me, you’re going to love him too!
There’s not a lot of angst in this story, but there is a little bit of a mystery to solve. It’s well worth the time it takes to read it!
