Bad Boyfriends, Inc—When you can’t find a good boyfriend, why not hire a bad one instead?
Ambrose Newman is a bad boyfriend. Professionally. If someone’s parents don’t approve of that long-haired unemployed bass player they want to date, that’s where Ambrose comes in. For a few hundred dollars a night, he’ll go to dinner with a client and their parents and show them that the grass is definitely not greener on his side of the fence. It’s dead. When Ambrose brings a date to a fancy restaurant, it isn’t sparks that fly—it’s glassware.
After his last boyfriend turned out to be a cheat, Liam Connelly has no interest in dating again, but his parents are determined to see him paired off. When they come to visit, he hires Ambrose to act as his boyfriend. If Ambrose can be a bad boyfriend, he can be a tolerable one too, right? But Ambrose plays the part too well and scores an invitation to spend the Easter weekend with the Connolly family at their winery, and Liam finds himself developing real affection for his fake boyfriend.
REVIEW:
I love this concept. Acting as the bad boyfriend, for money, so the real boyfriend will be easily accepted.
Liam doesn’t need a bad fake boyfriend, he just needs a fake one, to keep his meddling family off his back. Liam saw Ambrose acting and asked him if he could play just as a fake boyfriend.
Ambrose accepted the deal.
What Liam didn’t expect his family adored Ambrose, and invited him for a weekend.
Ambrose accepted the deal.
In real life, Ambrose is a caring person, fun, and considerate. Now Liam is asking if he could play a bit less lovable.
Ambrose is sad to disappoint Liam’s family, he likes them very much, and he doesn’t want them to hate him, but a deal is a deal, it pays well and he needs the money.
Besides this, there are some side plots about family matters from both sides, and what wasn’t on the agenda… real affection develops between them, no way!
Well, that was a quite chaotic experience, my brain isn’t that flexible so I had trouble with the switch of Ambrose’s personalities. One moment he’s his sweet himself the other moment he plays the awful one.
It hurt to see the family doubt him. The authors did well, only my brain had trouble lol.
Liam comes from a rich family with a famous wine label, Ambrose comes from a different one. It’s all about family love, in good and somewhat suffocating ways.
This all together made the story a chaotic (yes this word again) and lovable read.
