Briar Pendelton is new to Lassiter, and he’s determined to get into Alpha Tau.
Even if that means lying about already having passed his LSAT and doing stupid pledge stunts like dressing as a sorority girl. Besides, he’s always looked killer in a skirt.
Casey Hill has been pledge master of Alpha Tau for two years. Keeping a bunch of pledges in line is a bit like herding cats, but Casey’s got it down to a fine art.
When Briar sashays into their fraternity with eyeliner, attitude, and legs for miles, Casey is thrown for a loop—in the best possible way. Except what happens when Briar literally can’t make the grade?
Uh oh.
The Amazing Alpha Tau Pledge Project is a lighthearted contemporary m/m romance containing college shenanigans, a pretty pledge selling candy, and a confused frat boy who discovers he’s a lot more heteroflexible than he thought he was. Or something.
Includes a bonus short story, “Make Up Sex.”
REVIEW:
Note: This book contains some spoilers for the previous books and I recommend reading in order.
Once again, we get a delightful story of the brothers of Alpha Tau 🙂
This story features Casey, the pledge trainer and Briar, a new potential pledge. It’s rush week and Trey asks Casey to meet with a guy that his dad has requested be given special consideration. He’s not a legacy and he’s a transfer from another college. The guy is gorgeous but he’s not terribly social. He’s taken the LSAT already and done well and he’s gotten good grades at his previous college. Casey has to get him to open up though – they need to make sure he is a good fit. The fraternity is very inclusive though, so that should not bean issue. Charlie, another scholarship student who is gay is also rushing and he’s not sure if he fits in either. But the brothers of Alpha Tau like both of them. There is only one fly in the pledge class ointment – Ethan – a legacy who is a total jackass.
Once the guys are pledges, things are going pretty smoothly. Their first fundraiser is a competition with a sorority. They come up with a unique idea they think will help them sell the most candy to win bragging rights while raising money for charity. Everyone is in on the plan for dressing as sorority girls – with one notable exception. Needless to say that exception causes problems. But he gets what he deserves 🙂
While all this is going on, Casey and Briar are getting closer. But Casey thinks that as the pledge trainer, he can’t be involved with a pledge. But Briar has other plans 😉 And he’s read the bylaws. LOL! He definitely gets his way. But there is something off about Briar’s behavior and Casey can’t get him to open up about what problems he’s had – both at his last college and now. Needless to say everything comes out in the wash and there are legit reasons for Briar’s behavior. Turns out things are not at all what they seem and he’s spent his life trying to be someone he’s not. Luckily Casey likes him just the way he is 🙂
I loves this story. To be honest, there is a bit more angst around Briar’s family than in the other stories and he’s had it pretty hard. Casey is a doll – so understanding and such a supportive guy. When he and Briar start dating, things get better until Briar has to come clean. Casey is really surprised but what he hears, but he really cares for Briar and wants to help him make things right. I love how supportive all the brothers were. Marty is still a standout character and any scene with him improves any book 🙂 Trey and Scout and Carter are there to lend a hand as well. Even Squirrel gets into the act 😀 These guys are just so much fun – I could read their stories forever.
Nick J. Russo is a master narrator. His performance across this entire series is spot on. The continuity, the fun, the spontaneity of these young men and their escapades is just so fun! There are steamy bits and tender bits and a lot of humor and this narrator delivers at every turn. Just a whole lot of fun. I for one will be sad when this series ends!
Highly recommended for a good time 😀
