A little miracle leads to true love.
In need of a quick cash infusion to pay off a loan shark, tattoo artist Doug “Zim” Zimmer gives of himself, literally, with plasma and sperm donations. He’s happy to help whoever needs either or both, and when the bills are paid he thinks nothing more of it.
Two years later, a handsome redhead holding an infant with Zim’s eyes shows up at the studio. Architect Clive Mulcahy, having assumed custody of his nephew after his sister’s death, wants a clearer picture of Wayne’s parentage in order to be a good father. The acquaintance he hopes to strike with Zim for the sake of Wayne’s happiness soon grows into a relationship neither expected, but both are willing to embrace.
REVIEW:
This is a sweet story about hope and how life can change in an instant and what happens when a very unexpected change is embraced.
Clive’s sister wanted a child and decided that she wasn’t waiting for Mr. Right but would utilise a sperm bank to give her a baby. Her gorgeous baby was born, and life was good, unfortunately, fate stepped in and tragically she lost her life. Clive despite being heartbroken at the death of his sister and having no real clue about raising a child, stepped up and took custody, battling to keep his head above water, his grief and raising a child took every ounce of his resilience but he manages all the challenges life is throwing at him.
Zim made a very dubious decision to borrow money from an unsavory character, he was setting up his tattoo business and needed the money. It comes back to bite him, when he must find the cash to pay him back quickly. Getting paid to donate his sperm and blood seems like an easy option. Go in, get the deed done and leave.
When Clive wants to find out more about Wayne’s parentage, is there any medical history, will the donor come and try to get custody, he has many questions and no answers.
Zim is amazed when his past sperm donation shows up, in the form of a cute baby and an even cuter Uncle. A coffee to ask questions, turns into dinner and then more.
This is a very sweet meet up, between two very different characters, who wouldn’t ordinarily meet up, they don’t move in the same circles, but they are drawn together by Wayne. Clive and Zim don’t let their fears stand in their way, as with all good romances, there is a hiccup along the way but it is low angst and in general it is a lovely sweet romance, which I enjoyed.
