The Up-and-Coming Businessman
At the age of eighteen, Judah Dailey thought his relationship with Tavish would last forever, until the fateful moment when Tav walked away. Judah didn’t get an explanation for why he was abandoned, and it haunts him. He never forgave Tav for what he did, but he continued with his life and started a successful business. When Judah accidentally runs into Tav twenty years later, he can’t let him leave again without an explanation. Instead, he gives Tav a new job.
The Trailer Park Staple
Tavish Greer has lived in a run-down trailer park while wallowing in his secret heartbreak for twenty years. No matter what he does, he can’t move on. He never expects to run into Judah again—until he does, quite literally. Telling his ex-boyfriend the truth about why he left isn’t something he ever wanted to do, but Judah is desperate for answers. Worst of all, Tav has never stopped loving him.
The Second Chance
Judah and Tav have always been from two separate worlds, but they made it work in the past. They’re older now, but outside forces fight against them being together. If they want to make their relationship work, they’ll need to go to war for each other. And, most importantly, they’ll need to be totally honest about the past. Are they ready to face their demons?
REVIEW:
Tav is kind, smart and doing his best to struggle through life. There’s no one he won’t lend a hand to. If he’s lonely, then it what he deserves. He gave up the love of his life and broke the boys heart. The fact that he didn’t really have a choice really doesn’t matter.
Judah is still angry after all these years and when the chance come up to humilate Tav he grabs it. Because he deserved revenge right? For no other reason.
The premise of this book was awesome. The execution? Not as awesome as would have liked. Everything moved too fast and when all was forgiven so easier and so early, it felt like the author was taking the easy way out. It was like they couldn’t stand to have the characters too miserable for too long.
And maybe I’m just getting old but there was way too many things that these characters needed to have conversations about but instead they used sex to fix everything. It really takes away from the story telling when they are jumping into bed every 5 seconds and that’s too bad, because I really wanted there to be more to this story. It’s not that the sex wasn’t hot because it was, but there should be more to the story.
The characters are interesting and easy to relate to. My issue with Judah is that he forgives way too easily and it just makes him seem like hes a push-over. Tav at least attempts to stand his ground and keep to the principles he’s found.
I don’t want to give too much away, but our terrible villian in this story is just so over-the-top that they come off as cartoonish. I didn’t find them interesting at all.
This story needs to build more anticipation and not let all the bad stuff between the characters just fall to the wayside. It felt like neither of them had to work for it and it made it kind of boring. The characters ended up acting more like the teenagers they were first together instead of the mid-thirties adults they are.
I’m still giving it 3.5 stars because I think the premise was promising and the characters had potential. The writing was technically good and so was the editing. It just needed to slow down and let things develop at a more realistic pace.
