When the family business is death, how does one handle a dark spirit set on annihilating those who stand in his way of misguided love?
Keir Dearly, the owner and sole proprietor of Dearly & Son Funeral Home, has married the love of his life and is ready for the next step—a family, or the idea of one. With the impending battle for the Human Realm, is it fair to bring a child into such danger?
Dashiell Clegg-Dearly plans the honeymoon that was postponed after his and Keir’s New Year’s Eve wedding. While basking in the sunshine of the Mexican Riviera, an annoying man inserts himself into Dash and Keir’s good time, turning up when they least expect him. Dash can’t get a good read on the man, seeing his aura flash from dark to light, which is confusing and frustrating for the ever-evolving Key.
Thane Nyxon has been told he could be the driving force for domination of the Human Realm and sent to pave the way for the Goddess of Darkness, Nyx, to begin her reign over humans before taking on Lucifer in a battle for the soul of humankind. Sadly, Thane hasn’t been given all the details about what he’ll be up against in his quest to separate the Gatekeeper and the Key.
Will Keir and Dash accept the heartfelt offers to assist them in pursuing a family? Can Dash discover who sent Thane and learn to battle the forces that have targeted him and his husband? Can Keir learn to accept additional help at Dearly & Son in preparation for family time?
As the fight for control of the Human Realm begins, Dash learns some disturbing information. Will it influence the way he fights the forces of evil to save his soulmate?
REVIEW:
I am so excited to read the newest book in this series. Things are heating up in the afterworld and the Gatekeeper and the Key are smack in the middle of it all!
Finally Keir and Dash are off on their Mexican honeymoon at a gorgeous resort in Cancun. Things are really heating up with their supernatural lives so this 10 day break was perfect. Unfortunately, as is usually the case, the supernatural have other ideas for how they should spend their time. When a unique guest at the resort shows up in a full woolen suit, complete with a black cat as a companion, things are up and Dash knows three things…that guy isn’t human, his aura keeps changing and he can’t be trusted near his Dearly! And with Jo, complete with her trusty knitting bag, and Beelz, all decked out in his pink-and-tan tracksuit and walking stick, things are getting crowded when all they wanted was a few days of fun, sun and lots of honeymoon sex! But Nix has some kind of bet with Lucifer over taking over the Human Realm and something big is looming over them and their honeymoon comes second!
Poor Dearly and Dash just can’t seem to get a break. Being the Gatekeeper and his Key is taking up their lives. But they want more. Now that Keir survived that attack on his wedding day from Mephistopheles, thanks to Dash’s healing tongue, he wants more for him and Dash and their future. And what the heck was up with that and Dash not being told what happened to him when Lilith saved his life. But it is definitely coming in handy when his Dearly keeps getting hurt. And how do children of Dash’s DNA fare?
Speaking of children, I loved that their friends not only supported them with their desire to have a family but are helping to make their dreams a reality. And their desires to help out more at Dearly and Sons so that they can follow that dream.
Holy cliffhanger! I suddenly realized way too late that we are literally left on the cusp of one of the hugest battles for mankind’s future and now have to wait. I need this next book pronto!!! I have become super attached to this universe that L.A. has created and need to know all ends well for Dash, his loving Dearly, and the family that they are creating. Oh and the survival of the human realm as we know it! No biggie! lol
