On a quest for long-lasting love, Capricorn? It may be just over the rainbow.
Grappling with a storm in his heart and feeling like a general failure, Carl Birch flees his problems at home and swaps lives with his ‘successful’ twin brother. Stepping into the shoes of an accomplished professional pianist adored by the locals feels like a breath of fresh air: he’s revered, admired, and described as ‘talented’ for the first time ever.
It feels good, but it’s also complicated. He can’t actually play the piano to save himself, and everyone he meets wants him to play, and teach, and tune, and give motivational speeches at school assembly . . .
If that’s not enough, the local heartbreaker has his dark, judgy eyes on him—eyes that seem to know. But also to understand. And, vexingly, to suspect Carl has joined the hordes of groupies swooning after him!
To get out of this spiraling mess, Carl will have to face things—both at home, and in his heart.
Buckle up, Capricorn. You’re about to undertake a journey of heart, mind, and courageous spirit.

REVIEW:
When we last left Carl, he had convinced his secret twin brother to take his place for his ex’s wedding and act as best man. Carl’s heart is broken and he can’t watch Pete marry Nick – the veterinarian he had fallen for while away at uni. Jason Lyall is a famous concert pianist, but if Carl can stay away from the piano, well he should be able to pull off posing as Jason for a few weeks while Pete and Nick’s wedding is going on. \
Funny thing though. He ends up getting drunk and being saved by a stranger. And that stranger keeps popping up. and Carl keeps falling into his arms and being rescued. It’s annoying as heck. He also meets a neighbor boy Leo and sees him being bullied. He does his best to stick up for the boy. His mother, Sage, is at the bakery – were the stranger, Grayson – also works. Sage is grateful to Carl for helping her son and he sees her getting picked on too by the mean girl mothers of the bullies. He decides to double-down. As Jason. Oh boy does this lead to some trouble! 😀
Luckily Grayson and Carl keep running into each other. Grayson seems to be always running here there and everywhere helping everyone. There is a sad reason behind that and when Carl learns why, he tries to help Grayson realize it’s not going to actually make him feel better. Boy are these two a pair!
Oh this was a delightful return to this world! I loved getting to know Carl, the twin of Jason from the previous book. This book was so fun and I loved seeing Carl and Grayson be there for each other. They were both suffering alone and together they were able to let go of the the past and stop being stunted by the things that had happened to them. They were able to listen to each other and provide good advice. It just goes to show you that 1) two heads are better than one and 2) an outside perspective can really help shine a light into blind spots we don’t realize we have. Grayson is buried in grief and guilt. Carl is buried in heartbreak and never being enough. The side characters were brilliant here also – particularly single mom Sage and her darling son Leo. What a surprise that mean girls have kids who are bullies. NOT! I so wanted them to get their “just desserts” – fully pun intended 🙂 There is a lovely crossover with the last book that I adored and an epilogue that ties things up nicely. As usual, our MC is a bit clueless – can’t see the forest for the trees. It’s a slow burn, peeling back the onion layers to get to the place where he needs to be to see what’s right in front of him all along 😉 Highly recommended. A real treat!
