My father’s best friend is totally off limits. Too bad the sexy firefighter is everything I ever wanted in a Daddy.
My friends and I get together once a month to drink wine and talk about our newest, hottest book boyfriends. And if it’s up to me to pick the book, that boyfriend will be a Daddy every single time.
But book boyfriends are safe, and I’m way too cautious to find a real-life Daddy. Besides, why would a strong, confident man like that want a geeky librarian like me?
Enter Keith, my father’s best friend, who happens to be a super hot firefighter from Station 69. The same station my dad works at.
My father won’t like it. And unlike all those Daddies I read about, Keith is a real man who rushes into fires and risks injury. It’s stressful enough to make me wonder if I should just stick with my book boyfriends.
But book boyfriends can’t make you hot cocoa, give you forehead kisses, or keep you warm at night. For those things, only Daddy Keith will do.
Can I handle a firefighter Daddy, or will I get burned?
Controlled Burn is the first book in the Station 69 series about the brave men who fight fires, rescue puppies, and fall in love in the fictional town of Vesper, Texas.
REVIEW:
Caleb is a librarian who only dreams of having a Daddy like the ones in the books he reads. Ok so maybe if one like the hot fireman who visits his library and who was not his dad’s best friend appeared he might be tempted to try. With the encouragement of his friends from his book club he decides to go to a Daddies night at the local gay club to see if a Daddy is what he really wants in real life. Unfortunately, all he finds there is a sleaze bag called Sebastian.
Keiths, last long-term relationship failed and now he only plays with boy’s, not wanting another serious relationship. At the club one night he can see Sebastian hassling another boy and soon realises that the boy is Caleb is best friend Robert’s son. Having had run ins with Sebastian in the past about the way he treats the boys that come to the club he cannot leave Caleb with him and goes to rescue him….
I have to say I had to check 3 different devices to confirm the number of pages in the book because I read it so fast. Lots of things happen in the book that kept me turning the pages and enjoying not only the evolving story but also finding out more about the men of Station 69 and Keith’s family.
The only thing that didn’t really work for me in this book is the fact Robert was really upset and walked out when he found out about their relationship did not seem to affect them very much when it happened. Personally, I do not think my first instinct after my dad/ best friend walking out after finding out about my relationship would be to jump into bed for passionate sex. (It didn’t seem like a consoling each other moment) but that could just be me.
That bit aside I did enjoy this book and the epilogue from the arsonists point of view has got me really intrigued. have a suspect in mind but I can’t wait to find out if I am right and to read Andy’s book.
