There’s nothing Devil loves more than giving Angel whatever he wants, especially when it’s what he wants too. The only question is Does Raven want them?
Of course, I’ve noticed Angel and Devil noticing me. I’ve felt their eyes and the deep pulse of their heated wanting. I’ve also seen plenty of men coming and going from their house all summer long, year after year, and I don’t want to be one in a long line.
The energy of Palm Island is so strong, it’s hard not to get swept up in it sometimes. Temporary lust, the hedonistic thrill of excess I’m only human after all. But something stops me every time I want to give in and let go.
I’ve managed to avoid getting too close to Angel and Devil until now. Months of endless, heated dreams and the long, lonely slog of the winter are threatening to break my resolve. And all the tarot cards and tea leaves in the world couldn’t prepare me for what they’re really like.
What if all the three-ways are just because they’re desperately searching for something? What if soulmates can come in thirds? What if I let go and see what happens?
Just because I play the part of a psychic, doesn’t mean I know a damn thing about relationships or how were going to make this one work
REVIEW:
Note: This is the sixth book in the series and contains major spoilers for the previous books. That said I guess it can work as a standalone, but I think is best enjoyed in order 😉
I feel like I’ve been waiting for this book since the very first book. Devil and Angel are a married couple who live on Palm Island. Devil is the resident plumber, electrician, handy-man you name it. Angel runs the local sex shop 🙂 They have been married for fifteen and sometimes they take a third during tourist season.
Raven runs the coffee shop/bakery/cafe on the island. He likes living on the island. Unbeknownst to the rest of the permanent residents of the island, Raven has a personal connection to Palm Island and the original owners of the island and founders of the gay resort. He feels a great connection to George and Harold and their story. He spends a lot of time at the museum and reading the diaries that have been left – so much that he’s almost got it memorized.
Raven is a little bit sad watching all of his friends pair off. He wonders when it might be his turn. He’s lusted after Devil and Angel for years – wanting them both and envying their relationship. He hasn’t been with anyone for a while. Devil and Angel have been watching their little bird, but he’s skittish around them and frankly tries to avoid them. Devil has a great idea to try to spend time with him asking him to help with a special project/surprise for Angel for their fifteenth anniversary. They want to renew their vows and he wants it to be special 🙂
Raven also approaches Angel at the shop about ropes but then he runs off again. They play this cat and mouse game for quite a while – well it’s really a continuation of years of foreplay 😉 When Raven’s plumbing gives up the ghost and Devil comes to the rescue their is finally some serious talk about Devil and Angel’s relationship and what their “guidelines” are since it’s clear they are not totally monogamous. Raven still thinks he will be their plaything that they will tire of and send away when they are done with him. It takes both Devil and Angel to convince him that is not at all what they are looking for. They are looking for their third and he is it 🙂
I was looking forward to Raven’s story and was not disappointed. It’s clear that he is the “outsider” of the whole community – but that’s in his head. He’s stayed away from Angel and Devil because he’s wanted them for so long! He takes a LOT of convincing by Angel and Devil though 😉 I enjoyed their push/pull. I loved how gentle and loving they were with the very skittish Raven. He really didn’t see himself as worthy and they think he is everything! The secrets of the island are revealed even more in this book which I loved. George and Harold’s story was so lovely and it just really pulled all the ends together with this love story for this trio. There is no jealousy – only desire to please to and to love and to be loved. Very low angst and some very steamy moments 😉
Iggy Toma did such a good job with this story. I loved Raven’s shyness in this performance. He’s such a sweetheart and he really is so adorable. Devil and Angel are so different and yet they work. Their gentle approach with their lovely little bird is perfectly voiced here. This is exactly why he is one of my favorite narrators. I believe the pain of Raven thinking he’ll never find his own happiness. I loved all the romantic and steamy and humorous moments with the rest of the guys too 🙂 Lovely continuity and just a pleasure to listen to. Highly recommended. Sad this series is done to be honest.
