REVIEW:
Exciting beginning to what is shaping up to be a powerful and amazing series!
Jaega, a powerful dragon shifter, is Head General of King Tatsuki’s army. He is also a prince and the brother to the King of Valzerna. After the bloody siege of Shadron his powerful dragon hearing hears a fearful plea of a young man. When he discovers the disturbing scene of one of his corporals, a jaguar shifter, in an aggressive situation with a smaller captive chained naked in a room. Jaega immediately stopped the situation and rescued the small, filthy, emancipated shifter hat he couldn’t even recognize. He brought Fersen, who was a unicorn shifter that all had thought were wiped out by the necromancers in the war, back to his camp. There he offered him shelter, a way out of the cursed shackles, a bath, warm food and a comfortable bed. Fersen didn’t trust anyone except Olina, the family friend owl shifter, who took him in when his mother hid him before she and his father were brutally killed for their magical unicorn horns. But, for some strange reason Fersen trusted the mighty Jaega and even desired him. But what did he have to offer to the Prince?
I loved that fate gave Jaega a second true mate. Having his wife and daughters killed while he was fighting in the war was so heartbreaking. Thankfully he still had his son. And the kind and honorable leader deserved this. I loved how he and his dragon recognized that Fersen was his mate but never pushed. He understood the brutality of what was done to Fersen by King Decius during his captivity. I’m sure the king would have died a much more gruesome death if he had. At least Jaega knew he ended his life personally. I also loved that Fersen got the true mate that he deserved. Jaega would always make sure his mate was safe and well taken care of. He loved his unicorn shifter and was so thankful and grateful to Sophina, the Fate Power and his niece Kizoshi, for bringing him a second mate after losing Caprina. He had love in his life again with a wonderful mate.
I am really looking forward to this series. I have been a fan of Ariella Zoelle’s books and knew the writing would top notch. Add in true mates, honorable dragon shifters and a unicorn shifter that will steal your heart and you got yourself a great time of reading ahead.
