REVIEW:
This is book three in the series Kings of Chaos from Ms. Jocelynn Drake. It follows the The Zhang Vampire Clan who came over to America to rescue their brother from the Fae. Along the way, they met Moon, the Blood Witch, who became Chen’s mate in book one. When the fae world open and Yichen and Rei escaped (while his clan already had plans of rescuing him), the clan solidifies their plan of destroying the fae world, killing the King and Queen who in their hunger of power don’t really care if they destroy the human world.
Now, book three is about Li Xiang and Kai, the Dragon, who is forced to follow the Queen’s orders as the heart of his hoard was stolen by the King and Queen over a century ago. When Kai was ordered by the Queen to kidnap Yichen, he took Xiang instead as Xiang pushed Yichen out of the way at the last minute.
Unknowing that Kai is the dragon, Xiang befriended him in the caves where he was taken by the dragon. Xiang thought that Kai was just another prisoner. They became friends and when Kai was summoned by the Queen, to order him to kill Xiang, Kai fought with all his might, returning back to the caves almost dead. Xiang nursed him back to health. And then Xiang convinced Kai (it took some convincing) that they were better off going back to his clan so that they can get all the help they could get in order to destroy the queen. Xiang finally realized that Kai is the Dragon. He found out about the sword, the heart of his hoard, being stolen, and the shame Kai feels about it.
When they arrived back at his clan’s residence, they planned on different ways to kill the queen and destroy the fae world to the point of chasing the fae back into their own world. Xiang’s brothers couldn’t believe that Xiang has a Dragon, and not just a Dragon, but the Imperial Dragon no less.
They joined the Variks one time when Winter’s and Bel’s residences were attacked. Something awful happened which nearly resulted in someone dying but thankfully it was averted. It was an awful fight and I was on the edge of my seat while reading this part, anxious for the fight to be over and everyone escapes unscathed.
This installment is full of action while full of family and brotherhood. The Zhang Vampire clan, the Varik clan, and the shifters were all there for each other. The fae world needs to be destroyed. And the Zhang clan now has the power to do that. Ms. Jocelynn Drake has done it again, Amazing characters and storylines!
