Dalton Beauregard has a plan.
It involves acing all his exams, making the Dean’s List every year he’s at Lassiter College, and going to med school and becoming a doctor.
Marty O’Brien has a plan, too. His is to improve his life by emulating those around him. He’s going to need a study plan, a tutor, and… a boyfriend?
Dalton can’t believe he’s even considering this. It’s utterly ridiculous. Marty is an idiot, and there is no way he’s going to help him learn how to be gay.
Or is there?
The Amazing Alpha Tau Self-Improvement Project is a lighthearted contemporary m/m romance containing banter, snark, and a dumb frat boy who may have accidentally had the smartest idea ever. Or something.
Includes a bonus story, “Romancing Dalton Beauregard.”
REVIEW:
Note: This book contains some spoilers for Book 1 and I recommend reading in order
Marty O’Brien was 100% my favorite side character from the first book in this series. He is hilarious and sweet and so much more than meets the eye 🙂 He’s a whirlwind and force of nature. He’s struggling with his grades. He’s decided that he needs to emulate his fraternity brothers at Alpha Tau and he’s determined to find a tutor and a boyfriend. It worked for Archer and his boyfriend Eli. It’s worked for Scout and Trey 😉 So he’s going to copy them and see if it’ll work for him. Right?
Dalton is a guy who seems settled with his long-distance boyfriend. But when he get dumped very publicly, he’s not a happy camper. Marty decides, without consulting him, that Dalton will now be his tutor and will tutor him on all things Gay as well. Dalton is taken aback, but Marty proves to be a lot deeper than he appears on the surface. He also has some great ideas for how Dalton can deal with being dumped out of the blue and having his perceived future changed on a dime.
The more time Dalton spends with Marty, the closer they become and when Dalton kisses Marty and Marty kisses him back, well things move to a different level. He really DOES seem to want to be tutored in all things gay. But Dalton realizes how much he actually LIKES Marty and uh-oh. That wasn’t in the plan either. He’s got feelings, but he can’t tell how Marty is dealing with the changes in their relationships.
Aside from this, there is a frat war that has Marty perhaps making some mistakes in judgement 😉 As that frat was goes on, it’s affecting more than just Marty though. Oh and there is the little issue of Marty’s undiagnosed/untreated ADHD. But Dalton is there to support him all the way. Luckily Marty is there to support Dalton too 🙂
OMG! This is a hilarious and fun romp AGAIN! I absolutely adored Marty who is akin to a puppy here. He’s happy and bouncy and funny and he’s kind of all over the place. He really does click with Dalton in so many ways. Dalton, for his part, loosens up and lot once he accepts that he’s “stuck” with Marty. And they he doesn’t ever want to be “unstuck” from Marty. Their friends with benefits to more is adorable. I loved Marty’s grandpa and his husband. The frat brothers are here and accounted for as well and are wonderful supporting characters.
Nick Russo is absolutely amazing in this performance. I adore his take on these young guys who are so different. Every voice is so consistent from the previous book as well. He’s a rockstar on this series and I cannot wait for the next book. Highly recommended!! So enjoyable and I was laughing out loud multiple times. Especially in the bonus short story – A TOTAL HOOT!!!
