BLURB:
Farren has been Black Cat Circus’s head of security since the beginning and it’s a job the gargoyle takes seriously. But he’s stone more often than usual in the daytime, impeding his ability to work. Something has to change, and he’s not sure what. Not until a feisty merman shows up at the circus and Farren’s stone curse has a hope of being lifted.
Rourke has one last adventure before he ties himself to the lake as the next historian apprentice. Only, he’d rather be an ambassador between the worlds than stuck in the muck reciting the same old information for a lifetime. When he meets a sexy gargoyle, Fate steps in to change both of their lives.
Can a gargoyle and merman get a fairy tale ending, or will a curse keep them apart?
Farren is a fated mates, gargoyle/merman, MM paranormal romance. The Black Cat Circus: Pearl of Fate is a multi-author series and season two of the Black Cat Circus World that features found family and a magical cast of characters. Each book can be read as a standalone but is better enjoyed as a series.
REVIEW:
And finally, at the conclusion of this season’s Black Cat Circus, we get the giant of a man that is head of BCC’s security, the stoic Farren’s story! And let me tell you…it was well worth the wait!
Farren has been Seven’s, the owner and ringmaster of the Black Cat Circus, head of security since it all started. The Gargoyle has been a fixture to them and always on top of all things security. Especially after that incident with Brighton and his stalker. That, Farren has never let go of and it still continues to eat at him. Oh, then there’s the curse! For three days, during daylight hours, (the day before a new moon, the day of and the day after) Farren turns to stone. This is not like when he shifts to his gargoyle shape. This is really stuck in full stone that he can’t change. He’s literally stuck inside for hours. But when three curious mer people come to visit the circus things rapidly change. And when Rourke, one of the merman, goes to brush away a bit of stone, and accidentally touches Farren’s ear, zaps of electricity zip through each of them and leave a small tattoo of the other on their skin where they touched…MATE! But how can a man of stone that can’t always control his shift and is an intrical part of a traveling circus and a merman that needs freshwater and to save his lake and community from illness make a life together?
Farren has been a mystery since last season and I am so thankful that Author Morgan Lysand did such a wonderful job with his story. Farren always watches over all his found family. But it’s more than just his job. It’s what is ingrained in him to do. He has to keep them safe. And the fact that that psych stalker Brighton had got as close as he did still weighs heavily on the gorgeous giant. That never should have happened when he was guarding them and he can’t let it go. It’s just one more reason he feels unworthy. But Rourke made it his mission to make his mate feel as worthy as everyone else a BCC knew he was. And thankfully the beautiful merman was finally able to make him see this. What I loved the most was how soft, gentle and cuddly he was when with Rourke when he was such an imposing and formidable man when on guard. And I also loved that, even though Farren was it for Rourke, Rourke knew he had to save his home and his fellow merpeople in their lake. He was an honorable man but he knew what he wanted and need…his giant snuggler of stone.
I had wondered, since the very first book this season about it and the shell. Thankful that was finally clear to me in this last book. I love that there was an underlying story line of the shell and its helping the lovebirds that heard and encountered it’s magic.
This was such a treat for me. I think I was one of the loudest people begging to get to go back to Seven’s Magical Black Cat Circus. And I was so richly rewarded for my groveling. This series has been so magical and truly tested the limits of my imagination’s box. We have learned about a centaur, a sperm whale, a kitsune, a gargoyle and a merman shifters. This eclectic group of shifters and their mates have been so special to me. I loved this second season so much that I am already listing it on my Best of 2924 list. Huge thumbs up for me 👍
