Here’s the deal, not everyone understands why an almost twenty-eight-year-old man is happy taking care of other people’s children, but I am.
Do I love being single? No, but what’s a guy to do?
Then I met Kevin Wadsworth. He’s everything I’ve ever wanted in a man. He’s older than me, smaller than me, and needs a little bit of care. Did I mention he’s also the father of the brightest almost three-year-old little girl I’ve ever met? Oh yeah, he’s the whole package.
So when he sticks up for me, proclaiming to be my boyfriend—fake or not—my heart goes swoon.
Living with this little family as the manny has been my absolute pleasure. Kevin already knows I adore his daughter. Hopefully he’ll realize I’m in this for him, too.
REVIEW:
When Kevin started to look for a surrogate, he expected to be a single dad but then he met Alan and they were going to be a family, until Alan decided that wasn’t what he wanted. Dealing with the end of a relationship, a new baby and a terminally ill Dad has left Kevin desperate to prove he can look after Lexi all by himself.
Two and half years later and his Mum is visiting and he goes out to pull, meets CJ and has a one night stand . CJ is a manny and loves his job. Imagine Kevins horror after a series of bad interviews when he realises the only viable candidate to look after his daughter is CJ. Not only a guy he has had a hook up with but also the candidate that needs accommodation with the role.
CJ couldn’t forget his hook up with Kevin. Kevin is everything CJ wants in a man the only thing that would have made him more perfect if he had been a single dad. Imagine CJ’s delight at discovering his next assignment could be working for Kevin looking after his daughter .
The above synopsis doesn’t really do the book justice. Their first meeting is actually quite cute, the chapter where Kevin is getting ready for the interviews and meets the potential nannies is quite funny and Sammi has written in such a way I could picture it very clearly – like an old Disney movie.
After the first 2 chapters I thought this was going to be a high heat story but actually no after the initial one night stand this is a slow burn story which was entirely appropriate for the situation it is set in and works really well.
I enjoyed them getting to know each other and the way their relationship developed. I also really enjoyed the side characters ,George & Margie, Kevin’s Mum and probably the most important character in the whole book Lexi . Lexi is a precocious 2.5-year-old that falls in love with CJ from the start.
This book was fun read and if you enjoy low angst manny books this will definitely be for you.
