Settling down and starting a family with a mate was never something I longed for. Instead, I traveled the world working my government job, living for the next adventure. When that time came to an end, I was left adrift. Hooking up with a beautiful omega I met on a kink app was just what I needed to get out of the funk I was in. No names, no expectations. Just some no strings fun and then we’d both go our separate ways.
I never expected my hook-up to turn out to be my fated mate. Instead of accepting fate, I ignored it and hightailed it out of there. I had no intention of being tied down. Until the day I came face to face with my very pregnant fated mate, who was not at all happy to see me.
Wyatt Cooper
Sweet Alps was going to be my new beginning. No more stuffy academia, no more boring projects. Finally, I would be able to do what I enjoyed most, working with children. Buying the Little Cubs Daycare would be the beginning of my new life and freedom.
Imagine my surprise when I got pulled over and the sheriff turned out to be my sexy, nameless app hookup from months before. He wasn’t supposed to be here in my new town. He definitely wasn’t supposed to be delivering my baby on the side of the road, spouting nonsense about us being fated mates.
My anger at seeing him again only cemented my belief that mates were a myth. I might have been naïve enough to not realize what that electric shock between us had meant, but he sure as hell had. Without a word, he left me with nothing but the memories of our night together and a surprise baby as a bonus.
His Innocent Omega is book 6 of the Sweet Alps Mates series but can be read as a standalone. Characters from other books make appearances, so some readers find it more enjoyable to have read the previous books. It features rejected mates, an alpha whose whole world is turned upside down and is a bit clueless, and an omega who isn’t buying what he’s selling. Knotting, found family, new friendships, an adorable baby, and some light D/s when their clothes come off, and they stop sniping at one another long enough to realize they might be exactly what the other needs.
TW: This book touches on the following topics: stresses that come with giving birth and becoming new parents, self-doubt, anxiety, and feelings of inadequacy. As well as being rejected (briefly) by a mate. If any of these things may trigger you, this book might not be for you.
REVIEW:
As everyone knows, I’m a huge fan of the Sweet Alps Alphas and their endearing omegas. And finally getting the mysterious Becks’ story…Yes please!
Becks knew it was time to retire. Being a CIA Handler requires a lot of hard earned trust between you and those you work with. With Jamie having retired and him not clicking as well any more with the new operatives has him questioning where to go and what to do with his future. So taking some time off to heading to Sweet Alps to help Jamie with a few sticky situations was a no-brainer. His best friend needs help and he’s there. Little did he realize that town and its residents would suck him in and make him a part of them.
Let’s face it…Becks is a Silver Fox! He may be a wolf shifter but that man aged like fine wine and all those ladies in town realize it. Driving through town and seeing their sheriff shirtless with a bonafide 8 pack of abs at 50 years of age…oh those old ladies are bound to talk. And their gossip chain stretches to everyone! I did love when he was kicked out of Wyatt’s in only low slung jeans. Having sweet Ryan and Wade checking him out was priceless! And Wade is nothing if not shameless. We all know that he loves Finn but he is a handful and not afraid to share his two-cents worth. But it was Bash and Jamie that I knew would make sure that Becks, and now his innocent omega, Wyatt, and their precious daughter Jules/ Julianna were well taken care of. And I knew Mary, the Sinclair quadruplet’s mom, would adopt them into her family immediately.
I loved the banter between Becks and his best friend Jamie Sinclair that came out in this book. We already knew the two were extremely close and Jamie trusted Becks with the lives of his family. So it was even more funny to see Jamie finally have the upper hand over his former CIA handler turned best friend. Becks has always been called in for help with the Sinclair family’s situations. Having Jamie call in the calvary when Becks thought he had broken Wyatt was hilarious. But my favorite banter quote between the two of them was:
“There’s only one thing you can do, Becks. And it’s something all alphas learn fairly quickly.”
“What?” Because if Jamie was about to lay some advice on how to win an omega over, I was listening.
“Grovel.”
This was priceless! Jamie finally had the age-old sage advice to stop his buddy Becks right in his tracks. And trust me, Jamie knows better than most how to grovel!
Wyatt was the perfect amount of submissive, when in a scene, yet has the strongest backbone when he feels threatened or being manipulated. That young genius has had enough of being told what to do and when to do it in his life from his overbearing and cold Alpha Mother. And what a piece of work she was! He knows what he wants and what he doesn’t. I think his lists endeared me to him even more. And the fact he wrote them out for Grayson (Becks given first name that only Wyatt uses) was perfect. I love how Grayson learned from his mate. Learned from his mistakes and eager to get it right the next time or the future. Because his Wyatt and Jules is everything he never knew he wanted and can’t live without once he discovers he has them.
I will say that I was about 75% through the book and started to have an uneasy feeling. I was worried that Beck’s book might be the final book in this amazing series. This series has captivated my heart and the people of Sweet Alps have become real to me. I need my continuous dose of Wade and his omega musketeers that he has formed a lasting and caring bond with. And also their gorgeous, loving and protective Alphas they are mated with. This group doesn’t know how to not be there when one of their own, whether they are blood or found family, needs help and that’s what makes them all so special. So reading that we are getting Asher’s mysterious alpha brother’s story helped calm my racing heart. This one sounds super intriguing. I can’t wait **rubs hands together**
