REVIEW:
This was so much fun! Really low angst, college romance starring Eli, a delightful twink college student and his clueless frat guy friend Archer. They meet by chance – repeatedly – at the wedding of one of Arch’s frat brother’s older brother’s wedding. Eli gives his number to Archer before the night is over. Arch completely misreads the situation. But then when talking to some of his other brothers at the house, the lightbulb suddenly goes off for Archer and he realizes he’s probably left Eli just hanging.
Archer texts Eli in hopes of setting the record straight. But he really likes Eli – and so they end up hanging out. Eli needs help in Math and Archer volunteers to tutor him. The end up spending a lot more time together and Archer gets the idea that he should help find Eli a boyfriend. He grills Eli on what it is he’s looking for in a boyfriend. So he sets about looking for the perfect date for Eli – the Boyfriend Project. The first guy he talks to would be perfect – but he already has a boyfriend at another school.
The second guy doesn’t really work out and Archer isn’t happy because he thinks Eli is a great guy. He’s not happy that these other guys don’t seem to recognize that. And then things change between them. But Archer keeps putting it in the realm of bro stuff. Right? I mean friends can help each other out. Right? 😉
When perfect guy number 1 is available, Archer once again attempts to set Eli up. But while Eli is out with the guy, Archer finally gets a wakeup call in the form of a reality check from his frat brothers. Apparently he’s the only one who has been oblivious to what was right in front of him all along. He’s been more than friends with Eli for a while 😉
These guys were both so funny and cute in the way the interacted with each other. They both have good senses of humor and they both are very good guys. Eli isn’t really that interested in Archer finding him dates, but he does like spending time with Arch, so he relents. Archer keeps insisting that he’s straight – which is starting to be harder to believe 😉 But Eli doesn’t want to push it even though he definitely has feelings for Archer. I loved that the most seemingly clueless guys in this story had Arch figured out way before he sees what is really going on. Overall this is just a super fun and cute story that brings two lovely characters together in a sweet romance with it’s own worthy HEA.
The bonus story in this audio is a prequel story involving the brother of the groom from the wedding that starts off the Boyfriend Project book. Scout is not too happy when his roommate situation at the frat house changes, but he ends up being VERY happy with his new roommate Trey in the end. I don’t want to spoil the story of how these two end up together, but I’ll just leave it at this is another very cute and entertaining story of a guy who is probably a bit more clueless about his sexuality finally understanding what he is doing because of the reaction of others 😀 Some of them quite unexpected 😉 Cute, sweet, steamy, funny and surprising.
Nick J. Russo does a great job performing these stories. His portrayal of these guys and their lack of clarity around their own identities is really endearing. The low angst makes these stories just a delight to listen too. I loved every minute of Eli and Archer’s story and the bonus story. The brothers of Alpha Tau all have parts to play in this little drama as well. They are a bunch of distinct characters that I’m sure we will be revisiting in future books. Aside from the great portrayals of Eli and Archer, there are the possible boyfriends who are pitch perfect characters here also. And I honestly cannot wait for Marty O’Brien’s story. He is hilarious and I can’t wait to see what he’s going to turn into. LOL!
Highly recommended. Will definitely leave you with a smile on your face!
