I’ve been in love with Jordan Mitchell since the moment I saw him.
He’s smart, handsome, and even funny when he feels like it. He excels at everything; whatever he touches turns to gold. He can’t do anything wrong.
When our parents got married and merged our broken families, I suddenly had a rival I could never compete with. And a heart-throb I could never be with. And I hate him for it. He doesn’t even see me.
Until one summer break… We’re alone in our parents’ mountain house. All we do is swim, sunbathe, and fight. And I’d rather be kissing him. Soon enough, the line between hate and attraction is too blurry to see.
It turns out that he’s just as messed up as me. And his sculpted body attracts me more than ever. With each day we spend holed up in the mountains, it gets harder to resist him. If I don’t do something, I might burst.
But the looming threat of destroying our family for a cheap thrill holds me back. There couldn’t be a happy ending to our story.
And all my choices are wrong.
For once, I’m going to need him to be in charge of what happens next.
REVIEW:
This is book six in the series Arctic Titans of Northwood U from Mr. Hayden Hall. And this installment is the story of Jordan and Asher. From their story we will learn how their parents met and married when they were already 15 and 13 years old respectively. We will learn how they were both surprised that day they met each other, that it was the beginning of their lives as a “family.”
Jordan and Asher are now both playing for the Arctic Titans, but they have avoided each other since that day. Well at first, they tried to know each other but it became too awkward for them so they just avoided each other as much as possible. But this summer, they were going to the lake when last minute changes resulted to Jordan and Asher being the only ones to go there for the first few days. Beckett’s Uncle Nate got into an accident that resulted to hospitalization and rehabilitation after so Jordan and Beckett’s plans got cancelled. Without nowhere to go for the summer, Jordan is now going to the lake with the family. But because of some damage in the house, Jordan’s Dad and Asher’s Mom will now follow to the lake, which means that it will only be Jordan and Asher for the first few days.
Awkward and uncomfortable were the descriptions I will use to describe the moments Asher and Jordan were in each other’s presence. Asher is always defensive because he felt that Jordan is always criticizing him, but it is not what Jordan intends. Jordan, having been commanded by Asher’s mom to watch and care for him takes it to the next level when it all comes out gruff and irritating, to Asher. But being alone eventually gave them the chance to see each other in a new light and feelings deeply buried comes to the surface.
When they eventually became honest to each other about how they feel and why they have been acting the way they are all these years, the desire long buried also comes out. They are morally guilty of how they feel because of who they are to each other but also, it is true that they are not blood related, they never knew what their parents planned all those years ago, they were just swept along with everything else in their parents’ lives.
What started out as something childish and nonsensical to me at the beginning of this series while reading about Jordan and Asher in all the other books that came before now becomes clear and understandable. And although I do think there were some childish actions, from Asher, I understand where he is coming from.
I love how these two came together, how they face their truths about each other and their family and how they stood together after all that happened. Their story is bittersweet and beautiful. I love how Jordan acts as strong, responsible and dependable and how Asher fumbles with his feelings and his love for Jordan. I love them. These characters will pull at your heartstrings and make you root for them all the way.
Thank you again Mr. Hayden Hall for this amazing story. I am looking forward to the next book.
