I made a promise to the enemy… and I intended to keep it.
Thank the goddess I have my pride and my wonderful, amazing mate—whose patience matches no other—because the world is in chaos, and Cosmo is my rock, my safe place inside the storm. If only I could find the time between witches, work, politics, and family to prove it to him.
The Shifter and Magi Equality Act is in full effect, supposedly making us equals, but the people themselves—the humans—are still treating us as lesser. Every time I turn around, we’re running into trouble between humans and non-humans.
To make matters worse, witches are everywhere in Fairview City, and the Red Cloth is encouraging humans to join their forces and challenge the equality my people have fought so hard to get.
And now, Anderson is back. Back and gunning for me.
But he doesn’t realize I’m gunning for him, too.
REVIEW:
I have been waiting for the final book in this series, it feels like forever. Half of me thought is it not here yet, the other half was equally dreading it as I knew it was going to be a roller coaster of emotions and the ultimate showdown to finish off the series. The conflict in my head of hurry up and get here and I’m not sure if I’m ready for it.
Despite getting Magi recognised by the Government and laws put into effect about their treatment and rights. They are still being persecuted and attacked. Mads, Jude and Cosmo along with the rest of their team have their work cut out for them, dealing with these attacks. The Red Cloth Witches are ramping up their attacks and unbelievably are stronger than ever, draining more and more shifters to boost their magic with blood.
Anderson rears his ugly head again and Mads vow to kill him seems to be taking on a life of its own, pushing Mads to be more reckless and he worries he is unable to stop and what the consequences might be if he can’t kill Anderson.
Finally, despite all their years together and being soul bonded Mads and Cosmo get tied. I was so happy for them as I worried Mads issues would hold him back forever. It was a welcome interlude from all the action and stress they are under. They are both still so much in love and in tune with each other, it is the foundation for the whole series, with them both unshakeable in their commitment to each other.
It was lovely to see how much the pack has expanded and the new people who have joined, along with all the kids and babies.
I have become so fond of all the characters and had my heart in my mouth as I wondered if they would all survive the coming conflict. The book is a page turner, I didn’t want to put it down, the right amount of suspense and I still got my dose of pack life, which is comforting and funny.
This book was everything I thought it would be, a fantastic final book and it put me through the wringer of emotions. I recommend having tissues at the ready, as I sobbed and cried through the final part of the book.
