SERIES: No Regrets #3
AUTHOR: Nora Phoenix
PUBLISHER: Self published
LENGTH: 310 pages
RELEASE DATE: April 20, 2024
BLURB:
Roman Dwyer was a successful district attorney…until he went after the wrong people. His reputation is in ruins, and worse, there’s a price on his head.
Ashamed and scared for his life, he accepts his brother’s offer to move in with him and his security team. But when Roman discovers the shenanigans happening in the house, he gets a lot more than he bargained for.
Like Caleb.
Roman can use the distraction and Caleb certainly delivers, but the last thing Roman needs is more complications. Besides, Caleb needs someone far more dominant than Roman…although Roman is discovering sides to himself he never knew.
Like how much he likes being in charge.
How he loves driving Caleb crazy.
The joy it brings him when Caleb obeys.
Crap, his life is about to become even more complicated, isn’t it?
No Secrets is a high heat MM romance and the third book in the high heat No Regrets series. It has a suspense plot without cliffhangers.
REVIEW:
This book is Roman and Caleb’s story.
These are both characters we have met before, and it is really good to see them get their stories told.
If you just read the blurb on this book, you will think that it is probably just another BDSM story written for titillation which is a bit of a shame. This book is a really good example of Nora Phoenix’s ability to tell a good story, create an engaging plot and make you care about the characters.
Part of this story is Roman discovering he is a Dom, but instead of his dominance and Caleb’s submission being the only focus of the book it felt more like just part of their character development throughout the story. It is important but not the only storyline in the book. The main tale is Roman trying to bring down a powerful person through his job as a district attorney.
Something else Nora is good at is bringing in characters from the previous books and other series. This book is a continuation of the No Regrets Series, and I would suggest not having read the rest of this series might make you wonder how Wander and his team end up where they are and about their relationships. If you don’t mind not knowing everyone’s back story and how it all interrelates then this can be read as a standalone story This book also has cameos from Conner & Miller from the No Shame series.
This review is in danger of becoming a Nora Phoenix fan club moment so you maybe wondering why the rating isn’t higher. 2 reasons. 1) The sex scene in the epilogue- it was well written but for me, personally, it was unnecessary. 2) I really enjoyed the writing and the characters, but I can’t see me reading it again. I cared about them whilst reading the book, but they won’t stay with me going forward and you know what that’s fine. I don’t have room for every character I read to leave an indelible mark on me. I enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend it to anyone that enjoys this genre.
