The Househusband’s Guide to Domestic Bliss
By Lance Lansdale
There is a home in New Orleans where—for a price—even the unlovable can find a love story for the ages. Ms. Broussard’s Home for Bountiful Beaus offers custom-made automatons, fully versed in the art of homemaking.
Arthur Price is not looking for love. The lonely librarian clings to work and routine to keep himself functioning. When his brother, Jared, arrives in the middle of the night with an i-Series automaton meant to lift his spirits, he realizes his routine life is about to be upended. Cheerful to a fault, Periwinkle is not someone Arthur would normally choose to befriend, much less enter into a romantic entanglement with, but he somehow programs himself perfectly into his life.
Miraculously, Arthur finds himself growing almost… fond of the robot.
Periwinkle may not possess much experience outside cleaning, but he can’t help noticing the loneliness in his librarian’s eyes. If it means giving Arthur Price a fresh start, Periwinkle is more than happy to stitch together all of Arthur’s broken pieces.
The Househusband’s Guide to Domestic Bliss is a cozy, dual POV, slow-burn romance about a lonely librarian and his made-to-order boyfriend.

The next morning, Arthur wouldn’t even look Periwinkle in the eyes. Not when Periwinkle greeted him in the kitchen. Not when he handed him his plate. Certainly not when he took the seat across from him and said Arthur’s name. Arthur was gripping his teacup so tightly Periwinkle worried it might break.
“Arthur?”
Arthur grumbled his reply, but he’d said it so quietly, Periwinkle couldn’t decipher the words. Periwinkle hated this. He loathed the way Arthur had barely even acknowledged him. The air was thick with tension, and Periwinkle wasn’t having it
He popped the top of the table with his palm, startling Arthur. “Arthur Price, you look at me this instant.” Arthur looked up, his mouth gaping. “We don’t do this. This isn’t us,” Periwinkle said. “I only saw your penis. It isn’t the end of the world.” Arthur scrubbed his face with his hands and groaned. “No. I didn’t say you could avert your gaze. Look at me, Arthur.” Periwinkle had to fight back the smile threatening to split his face when Arthur peeked through his fingers like a frightened child. “We don’t go quiet on each other. For Heaven’s sake, you’re acting as if I walked in on you murdering someone.” He reached across the table and gently held Arthur by the chin. “I saw your penis. It was a very lovely penis, Arthur. You have nothing to be ashamed of.
Arthur’s eyes widened. “Jesus Christ, Peri.”
Periwinkle rolled his eyes. “Yes. I enjoyed the sight of your penis. Big whoop. In all honesty, I think I might have preferred to see your rear, but this is hardly the time to delve into those depths. We can circle back to your bum some other time. Now, are you going to sit here sulking all day, or are you going to stand up, give me a hug, and tell me I’m adorable?”
Arthur blinked at him.
Periwinkle stared down at a nonexistent watch on his wrist for dramatic flair. “Any time.” When Arthur made no attempt to rise, Periwinkle scowled at him. “Your silence speaks volumes, and I am not amused.” He turned around and headed for the stove, picking up a spatula and gripping it tightly. Fantastic. “Honestly, Arthur.” He flung the spatula in the sink, throwing his hands in the air. Periwinkle knew he was heading into an immature, childish meltdown. He simply didn’t care enough to calm himself.
A set of arms wrapped around him from behind, Arthur’s fingers tickling Periwinkle’s stomach. “I’m sorry.” Arthur’s lips found their way to Periwinkle’s neck. They were wet like Arthur had just licked them. Periwinkle didn’t mind. In fact, he thought he liked the feel of it. “I’m just embarrassed.
Periwinkle placed his hand on top of Arthur’s and squeezed. “You have nothing to be embarrassed about.” Periwinkle looked over his shoulder, trying to give Arthur a supportive smile. “It’s a very lovely penis, Arthur.
