LENGTH: 189 pages

BLURB:
In 1968, three school children were allegedly poisoned to death by their teacher, Marie Fairbanks. A week later, Ms. Fairbanks was murdered, and the cops marked it off as a justifiable homicide. Case closed. No further investigation needed.
Now, Detective Ronan O’Mara’s daughter has encountered the spirits of those dead children and Everly’s determined to help them rest in peace. Even if it means getting involved in a fifty-year-old cold case.
Psychic Tennyson Grimm can’t see or sense the child spirits like Everly can, which puts him in an awkward position. This case and its gruesome details aren’t something he wants his daughter involved in, but he’s not so sure Ronan and Everly would agree.
But the mystery of the poisoned children still lingers, and Marie’s killer is out there, ready to strike again to keep their identity hidden. Ten and Ronan need to solve this case while keeping Everly safe, otherwise they could very well end up dead for teacher.
REVIEW:
Who’s ready for another brilliant installment to the Cold Case Psychic files… Me that’s who. Let’s get the disclaimer business out of the way first. If you haven’t read the previous 25 books in this series and the Haunted Souls series as they are deeply intertwined with each other, please don’t start with this book as you will be a bit lost in the continuing plots and found family dynamics.
There is not a complacent bone in this author, she continues to grow the world this series is set in. Brilliantly I might add. Pandora continues to amaze me with these stories. She continues to expand and deepen the worldbuilding in this one. Taking the Cold Case mystery back to 1968. Which is just a stroke of genius. Nothing formulaic or repetitive in this one.
I just love all of Pandora’s characters, as they are so well developed and bring purpose to the story. I was intrigued to see the integral part Everly plays in this story. At the tender age of 6 she is surpassing her father’s (Tennyson) gifts and abilities. With this comes new territory for Ronan and Ten. How to deal with her abilities and just how much to let her help out. But with the help of their extended family, I am positive they will negotiate this challenge, like most parents, with trial and error and maybe a few bumps in the road along the way.
As I’ve come to expect from Pandora, she weaves a wonderfully crafted mystery for Everly and the Scooby gang to solve. This one kept me guessing, along with the gang on who the murderer was. A shocking plot twist when the murderer is revealed. Didn’t have that character on my cold case bingo card. It’s not just the mystery that she weaves so brilliantly, it’s the inclusion of all the lives of our cast of characters. Found family is the ongoing story arc in this book and series. I love how these characters are always there for each other and how entwined they have become with each other. I hope that one of the new characters that has shown up in this story continues to make appearances.
I passionately recommend this book. Don’t forget to RUN off to your favorite eBook purchasing site and grab up this book – pronto, you won’t be disappointed. I truly love this series and can’t wait for the next story.
