Lunar Wolves Series by Kiki Burrelli
Series Narrated by Chris Chambers
Axe Landry needs a fake mate-fast.
Axe Landry is the disgraced heir of a defeated Alpha. He craves law, order, and stability, but he’s clinging to his position of Chief of the Lunar Council Enforcement Agency, the protectors of Crescent City, by a thread. If he doesn’t find a mate—a witch mate, at that—by the next full moon, he’s bound for a life of ridicule and isolation.
Enter Caden Borealis-wild, reckless . . . and irresistible. Caden hasn’t made much of his twenty-three years on earth. Caden’s life is a mess, though, and he desperately needs money if he wants to save his grandpa’s life.
A deliciously indecent proposal.
When Caden first hears Axe’s proposal, he can’t believe Axe is serious. All he has to do is pretend to be Axe’s husband and Axe will give him half a million dollars?
Unless it’s all real . . .
When werewolves start to go missing, Caden realizes he might be in over his head. He’s never let himself rely on anyone before, but Axe becomes his rock as he learns to navigate this newfound world of witches and werewolves. But as the lines between real and pretend blur, Caden can’t always remember that he’s only acting like he’s in love.
Contains mature themes.

His wolf enjoyed that comparison a little too much.
Prey to hunt. To take and claim.
His growl rumbled from his chest, frustration and desire knocking against each other like bumper cars. It wasn’t appropriate. Caden was a young man with shitty parents and didn’t need Axe leering over him.
“You’re really good at that,” Caden said, a vacant, dazed quality to his tone that had Axe worried. Axe had thought he’d gotten to Caden in time to keep him from harm. But what if he hadn’t?
Cold fury made his throat tight. “Did they hurt you?”
If they’d made a single mark on Caden’s body nothing would stop Axe from hunting them down and painting their skin with his fists.
He studied Caden’s pale face. His skin was unmarked. He didn’t favor any part of his body or move as though he was in physical pain. There was no pain in his expression either, some fear, “but mostly an open curiosity that made Axe’s dick twitch.
Even if he isn’t hurt, he’s in shock. Leching on him in this state makes you no better than his parents.
“Caden,” Axe said in a gentler tone. He gestured for Caden to walk forward, not trusting himself enough to actually touch the other man. His scent was too alluring. “Come sit down.”
Thankfully, Caden did as Axe said, unfortunately that fact just had his wolf trilling over the young man’s instant submission. He occupied himself looking for a water glass in Caden’s kitchen. Bottles of booze littered the counter along with a pack of red plastic cups. He snagged one of those and went to the tap.
“Did you um, say upstairs that my parents knew you were a werewolf? Like, a real werewolf? With the fangs and the super strength and the…” Caden rolled his wrist in a vague gesture as Axe set the cup down in front of him.
“Drink,” Axe ordered. “Yes. Your parents knew I am a real werewolf. I assumed—well, clearly I assumed a lot of things I shouldn’t have.” There were witch clans out there who lived as though werewolves had “tricked witches into being their mates. They didn’t believe in the Sacred Pact, even if they benefited from it, and instead spread anti-werewolf propaganda to make sure their children believed just as they did. There were wolf packs who believed the same, that mixing with witches was weakening the wolf bloodline.
They were all idiots who didn’t know their history.
And Axe had assumed the Borealises weren’t idiots simply because they’d been willing to negotiate with him. In reality, Axe had heard yes and hadn’t cared about much else other than verifying their ancestry.
“They knew. And I thought you knew. I thought you knew about this whole thing, Caden. I wouldn’t have agreed to it otherwise.”
Caden’s heart hammered in his chest.
Huxley’s best friend is his rock.
Huxley Might’s position as agent within the elite Lunar Council Enforcement Agency has prepared him for a life of service. Being an Alpha is about control and sacrifice. He doesn’t have siblings to pass the duty to. It’s up to Huxley to become the next Alpha and ensure the Might family legacy continues. It is a heavy burden to bear, but Huxley can always count on his childhood best friend, Ezra, to be in his corner.
Nothing could come between them—except the future.
If Ezra Fescue manages to stay out of prison, he’ll be doing better than the rest of his witch family. Crescent City doesn’t have tracks, but if it did, Ezra’s house would be the only one on the wrong side. He’s poor, unattractive, and comes from a family of magical felons—not exactly the type to be close friends with the next Alpha. Full of criminals and mediocre witches, the Fescue clan is despised by the entire witch community. No matter who Huxley chooses as his mate, the first thing she’ll demand is for Huxley to give Ezra the boot. As a werewolf, pleasing his mate will always trump keeping a best friend.
A night of passion changes everything.
Their friendship has a time limit, and after a drunken night where things get out of hand, Ezra is certain their end is nearer than ever. But Huxley refuses to let one night ruin a lifetime of friendship. He needs Ezra in his life. He’ll fix it, fix them, and bring everything back to normal. Except, now that he’s had a taste of Ezra, he can’t go back. If he doesn’t figure out a way to convince Ezra he doesn’t care about Ezra’s bad reputation, he’ll lose him forever. But, how can Ezra let Huxley give up on his legacy?
Can their friendship become more?
Meanwhile, there is a thief operating within Crescent City. Each new theft tightens the tensions that already exist between the different werewolf packs and if Huxley’s team doesn’t find the criminal in time, their powder keg of a city is going to blow.
Tension is the second book in the Lunar Wolves series and can be read as a standalone. It is a paranormal gay romance with mystery, suspense, a possessive, protective werewolf, and a witch who knows he’ll just end up regretting agreeing to that whole friends-with benefits thing.
