TITLE: Colin
SERIES: Vampire’s Mate (Book 6)
AUTHOR: Grae Bryan
PUBLISHER: Self Published
LENGTH: 260 pages
RELEASE DATE: March 14, 2024
BLURB:
Colin has spent his whole life waiting for something. He doesn’t know exactly what it is, or how to find it—all he knows is that he wants more. When the existence of vampires gives him hope for exactly that, he’s determined to find one for himself. And when he finds out Tucson holds two vampires without mates of their own, he’s willing to do whatever he can to get close.
Fox has spent his whole life looking out for his brother. So when his twin shows signs of bone-deep boredom and ambivalence, who can blame him for wanting to grab on to anything that could bring him back to himself? And if that something happens to be the pushy, prickly blue-haired human on their doorstep—asking to stay, demanding to be fed on—then so be it.
Dane has spent his whole life feeling different. Even as a vampire, he doesn’t quite fit the mold—too attached to his brother, for one, with a platonic, fated bond that can’t be broken. So when a strange human comes into their lives and seems to accept them exactly as they are, who can blame him for starting to hope, just a little, for something… more?
Colin is a heated, fated-mates MMM paranormal romance with a HEA and no cliffhanger. It contains a grumpy, vampire-addicted human and the twin vampire brothers who are hungry for anything and everything he has to offer. It also contains steamy scenes and the moderate violence (and mentions of blood) one might expect from a vampire romance. While each book focuses on a different couple, the series is best enjoyed in order.
REVIEW:
I have said this before but it bears repeating, I am so thankful I took a chance on this brand new author when Roman was first offered to us. Grae really has knocked it out of the ballpark with this series and I just can’t get enough of her vampires and their mates!
Colin, the barista at the coffee shop our sweet Jay works at, and used to feed off of before he met Alexei, has to rush back to Tucson after he learns his dad has suffered a stroke. He never intended to spend time in that town again after it caused him so much strife in his younger years.. His ex, Derek, had done such a number on him and told him he was cold and frigid. So he stayed to himself and believed he must be asexual. He also spends his time thinks about his fascination with the vampires surrounding him and their mates. When he gets the chance (by basically bullying his way in) to live with twin vampire brothers he jumps on it. But when they feed on him he discovers he’s not as ace as he first believe and is shocked by the outcome of that first feeding! But how does a person who is fascinated with his platonic mated twin brothers he lives with become anything but a toy and somehow protect his heart.
I have been wanting Colin’s story forever. He is the human that Jay is besties with. And if Jay loves him then that meant that I had to love him too. Plus he is the one that let Jay feed off him before Alexei, his fated mate. Although he was a bit of a sourpuss he always held a soft spot for his short stack. And I really had had hopes that we would get the twin’s, Fox and Dane, story back in Tucson that we met with Jamie. Oh and I really liked that twist that Jamie and Colin used to be friends and kissing buddies back in school before Derek messed up Colin so badly. This all really worked for me. I loved that Colin was able to be himself and discovery that he was his own unique self. And his coining the phrase Vampiresexual was priceless! It worked for me. I don’t think you always need tags and people don’t always fit in neat little boxes with those tags on them. So, why not vampiresexual? It worked perfectly for the three of them. I also didn’t know that vampires could have platonic fated mates, to keep them together forever and from ever turning feral, so I keep learning new things every day in this universe. And that platonic mates could share a true or fated mate. Just fascinating concepts.
The twins really surprised me. Their den did such a number on Dane’s mind that he literally sealed himself off from feeling so others wouldn’t judge the bond that he and Fox had. But they were fated mates and twins on top of that so that bond was stronger than anything. Colin was the jigsaw piece that was missing from their puzzle and made everything finally click and work.
I’m so thankful I read this after I finished the book… Thank you so much for reading and reviewing Colin! I hope you enjoyed the sixth and final book in the Vampire’s Mate series. I haven’t been on Facebook much with all my traveling and had no idea this was the last of my fierce and protective vampire’s and their wonderful mates. I’m stunned at the moment. I knew it would end someday but I wasn’t prepared for that day to be today. Grae has trapped me in her web with these vampires and I really don’t want to leave. I thought that we would get some more adventures with them before they needed to move on and then a bit as they settled in their new area. This den really did it for me and I’m going to miss them so much. I hope that we will get glimpses of them with the new spin-off series 🤞
I will say that you really, really need to read this series in order. The series keeps building on the characters that have already got their book but become an key player of the whole story. This was a fitting book to wrap up the series and I hope you enjoy it as much as I have. Happy reading.
