When a help wanted sign pops up on the main road, he takes a chance on working at the local bookstore, but he finds so much more than a job.
Logan meets Dakota and knows right away that the sweet man is his mate. Then he has to set about making Dakota see what he does in their relationship. Can these two overcome the dark shadow of Dakota’s past and teach Dakota that home, and family, are where you find them?
This book has dragon shifters, talking lizard birds, fated mates, and mpreg!
REVIEW:
Well the title to this book is really perfect. Minerva Howe has a great thing going with her fantasy dragon shifter stories. This is the start to a new series. Logan is the head alpha of his wing and as such he’s protective of his people. He recognizes something in Dakota immediately and he wants him. Dakota’s had a rough time of it – arriving with just a backpack after being banished from his wing. He’s got lots of self-esteems issues. He really thinks that he is bad, but he just needs someplace to rest and recoup since he’s been on his own. Once Logan takes an interest in him though, things change. He finds a community of good people who really seem to like him and respect him. They know he’s not bad!
Logan eventually convinces Dakota that he is worthwhile – well with a little help from their friends 😉 Simon, Logan’s valet/housekeeper, Mari, the woman who owns the cabins where Dakota is staying and Amber, his boss at the bookstore especially have his back. Lars, Logan’s brother offers his supports as well, especially when Dakota’s past catches up with him and he thinks everything will be taken away.
I totally enjoyed this story! Yes, there is sort of a formula for these stories, but I’m here for it. The descriptions of the landscape/world were really lovely. The characters were so quirky and funny and had such good hearts. I loved the unusual pets of these dragons too 😉 Dakota grows a lot during this story and really comes into his own. His confidence in who he is and what he deserves are at the heart of this romance. Logan takes things slowly so as not to scare Dakota off and they end up in a very good place. There are plenty of sweet and tender moments here as well as some humor and fun. Recommended. I can’t wait for the next book.
