U.S. Marshals I.S.R. (Interspecies Response), Book 1
The very last thing U.S. Marshal Eoghan Sapphire wants is a new partnership. Worse yet, the transfer from Lexington, Kentucky is a civilian. That means it’ll be Eoghan’s responsibility to break him into the I.S.R. and the unique way their particular U.S. Marshals Service unit operates. He decides being a jerk to him and keeping him at arm’s length just might be the way to handle things…until he meets him.
Aristotle Brown isn’t like anyone Eoghan’s ever known before. He’s polite, willing to learn, and most of all, devastatingly handsome. Eoghan’s actually happy they’re thrown into a dangerous situation with a WITSEC protectee the first day his brand-new partner is on the job. Dealing with this particular man will let Eoghan know what Ari Brown’s made of. Will he break under pressure?
Dealing with humans is standard everyday stuff in the U.S. Marshals Service but other non-human species like shifters, other paranormals, and aliens from distant star systems…well, that’s where things promise to get downright interesting. Their second day on the job is no different. And he’s not prepared for Ari’s cool-headed composure when he comes face to face with an example of everything the I.S.R. deals with every day.
To top it all off, the marshal sent to back the two men up when things get dicey in Griffith Park isn’t as reliable as Eoghan had hoped. The impulses of the guy nearly get them all killed but fortunately, Ari performs like a dream, helping extract everyone when things go from bad to worse. Eoghan is sure of a couple of things…acting as this man’s training officer isn’t going to be such a struggle after all, and keeping his hands off him is going to be the hardest part about this assignment.

“Hurry up.”
Eoghan’s entire body was tingling as he fumbled with the key card to their hotel room. With Ari’s tall body like a furnace at his back, he was having a hard time keeping his cool as he inserted it, waiting for the green light to blink, and the door lock to disengage. Every time he tried the card, it blinked red.
He growled in frustration, feeling arousal pulsing through his body. Ever since his flirtation with Ari at the café, he’d been obsessed with getting their late lunch over and done with, so that they could get to their hotel. He still wasn’t sure what was going to happen, and he definitely wasn’t sure changing their status as platonic partners was a good idea. But…sweet Jesus…the way the man smelled and the warmth of his big body pressing close as he fumbled with the key card, wasn’t helping him decide.
“For fuck’s sake, Eoghan, give me the card.” Before he could object, Ari’s long arm was reaching around him, and his fingers were plucking the card out of his hand. He deftly worked the card, waited for it to blink green, and chuckled against the back of Eoghan’s neck when it cooperated immediately, as if waiting for the touch of a master.
“Very funny,” Eoghan said, as they pushed into the room. They both dropped their duffels just inside the door and before he even had a chance to pivot, Ari had him in his arms, twirling him and pressing him up against the closed door. He clearly had a thing for pinning Eoghan against doors but at the moment, the very last thing he was going to argue about was who was taking charge of this encounter. All Eoghan wanted to do was stop thinking about what a bad idea it was to fuck his partner and see how quickly he could rid them both of the clothes standing between them.
He let out a little “oof!” as his back hit the hard surface behind him and then, Ari’s mouth was on his. Opening him up. Sliding his delicious tongue against his own. He tasted of the peppermint he’d popped into his mouth after the satisfying meal they’d just consumed. His spicy sandalwood and citrus scent surrounded Eoghan as he slid his arms around Ari’s middle and skimmed his palms down to squeeze his firm bubble butt. The man had a gorgeous ass and Eoghan had thought about almost nothing other than touching it since they’d left the restaurant hand in hand.
He briefly wondered whether Ari was a top, a bottom, or vers and then realized it really didn’t matter because he wasn’t plotting anything when it came to this man. He most definitely had no plans of slotting Ari into a preconceived box of his own contrivance since any way he could have him, he’d have him. Eoghan hadn’t been with anyone since his ugly breakup with the cheating Kellen McGillis. It wasn’t that he had been avoiding men, it was simply that he’d decided he needed to be more discerning in his tastes. In his opinion, Aristotle Brown was more man than he could’ve hoped for.
