It was a night of passion with two best friends.
How was I supposed to know they’d end up being my teachers?
Professor Carter refuses to acknowledge me.
He doesn’t do his students. And he doesn’t do relationships. It’s the only way he knows to protect his broken heart. Professor Everett is the sweetest.
But what else could I expect from this attractive bear? If only he wasn’t so desperately in love with his best friend.
Is there space in their bed and hearts for me? Or am I just the wedge between the two friends with benefits?
Me Three is the second book in Rhys Everly’s steamy, low-angst teacher/student romance series A Proper Education, but can be listened to as a stand-alone.
It contains a nonbinary character, best friends to lovers, steamy threeways, and a poly-for-you trope.
REVIEW:
The book jumps right into the action with a steamy opening 3-way sex scene involving the main characters – roommates and best-friends-with-benefits Carter and Everett, and Tru, the non-binary art student. This sizzling encounter is meant to be an anonymous one-night hookup, but Tru quickly leaves both men wanting more. However, Carter has strict rules against emotional entanglements.
Before anyone can explore turning their lust into something deeper, it turns out Tru has ended up in both Everett and Carter’s university classes. The two professors react very differently to this discovery. While Everett is eager to get closer to Tru despite feeling unworthy of being loved, Carter adamantly refuses to cross that line with a student, as he is avoiding any relationships after being badly hurt in the past.
But Tru is no wallflower, and insists that his two conflicted men face their fears and insecurities, and fight for what they truly desire – him.
Like the previous novel, this story delivers plenty of erotic scenes, but with more variation and creativity, including one scene in particular that is one of the hottest scenes I’ve ever read!
The frequent bedroom action does not detract from meaningful character development and backstories, resulting in three dimensional characters with distinct personalities and emotional baggage.
I found this to be an enjoyable lighthearted read, steamy yet substantive. It can work well as a standalone story, even if Tru makes a brief cameo appearance in the preceding book Beau Pair.
