My life was perfect. A dream degree course, amazing friends, a different guy every weekend.
Until him.
One night.
No names.
We thought we’d never see each other again.
But the man that blew my mind turns out to be Dr. Wilder, a lecturer at my university with a reputation of being cold and unapproachable.
Completely wrong for me.
He’s a teacher. I’m a student.
Did I mention my housemates loathe him?
It was only supposed to be a one-night stand…until it wasn’t.
Now, we can’t seem to stay away from each other.
He’s turning my world upside down.
We’re in too deep.
There’s only one way this can end, and neither of us are prepared to face the consequences…
Ignited is an M/M new adult student/professor college romance, and is the third book in the LSU series. Each book can be read as a standalone.
REVIEW:
Stoic workaholic Dr. Killian Wilder is a Principal lecturer at London Southwark University. A private birthday lap dance bought by his friends and an observant performer was the start of something extraordinary, life-altering, and potentially destroying. Either way, neither man was prepared to let what they had go.
Ignited is undoubtedly a super title for this lust-to-love story between a university lecturer and a student (not his student – a student – no class conflict). I have no problem with tales containing an abundance of sex, provided the story arc is also up to the task – and this succeeds. The more I read, the more I became attached to the characters. Also, while reading the early chapters, I couldn’t get the following hits out of my head – Tina Turner’s Private Dancer and One Night in Bangkok by Murray Head.
Sometimes, there’s a spark between two people that neither expected, making them do things out of character and hang on for dear life. That’s what happens between JJ and Killian. What began as lust turned into more.
Universities are known to be dens of walking hormones and swearing, duly reflected in the text. Shout out here for Sid, the pet snail – a total scene stealer.
Killian is a former foster child with socialization issues who could be somewhat possessive, with a goal of where he wants his career to go. JJ is a natural flirt who gets turned on by Killian’s nature as he’s never had anyone possessive over him before. Nevertheless, he has no issue calming the man where appropriate. They knew that they should stop their ‘Situationship’ as JJ put it, but they couldn’t let go, which led to some life-sharing and delicious situations that gave my heart a workout. By the end, I was rattling my pompoms for the MC’s.
If I liked this story so much, why not give it full marks? It was little quirks personal to each reader. Phrases like ‘come for me’ make my heart sink because I’ve read the term sooooo many times, and it is now irritating whenever I see the expression. Then, there were the immortal words ‘filling the condom with his cum’ – umm, given where the dick was at the time, it couldn’t have been white wine. And while the story was excellent, this first-person narrative didn’t make me forget such idiosyncrasies.
