Maverick
I’m the pro. Always professional, always mindful of the press, and always doing the right thing.
My life is flashy and chaotic. I’ve spent the past few years doing everything I was supposed to, including smiling pretty for the cameras while standing next to the world’s favorite popstar.
But now that’s over. I’m yearning for a simpler life. I love racing, but the fame part I could do without.
I want a life out of the spotlight, and I want something real.
Cooper
I’m a fan—how could I not be?
And not just a fan of racing. I can’t help but be swept up by the lives of celebrities. Wondering if they really have it so much better or if something is missing.
Now that Maverick isn’t just that hot racer I’ve followed for years and is instead my friend, I’m starting to see the answer.
We always want what we don’t have.
Rich and famous or poor and seemingly invisible . . . who actually has it better?
Where does true happiness actually lie?
REVIEW:
I loved this one. On one side it was super sweet, on the other it had quite some hurt. The combination was really good.
We have sweet Cooper who works in a bar, studies, and works his free time at an animal shelter.
He idolized Maverick, a motor racing pro, big time. He knows he’s straight, they have mutual friends so he sees him at the bar.
His surprise is big when Maverick wants to hang out with him. He can’t believe his luck, literally!
No one stays, he knows he’s too much, too much of everything. So he’ll enjoy the moment and move on, he knows the game by now.
Maverick hates the spotlight and spending time with Cooper is refreshing. The guy is so adorable!
They try to keep their ‘relationship’ behind closed doors, Maverick is not ready to come out. Cooper thinks he can do that. Sweet boy, you deserve so much more 🙁 :'(
There were moments I wanted to shake Maverick and yell in his face to make the right choice, now!
I understand what he wanted to achieve but oh boy, hurting one with the idea of not hurting, foolish guy! Thank goodness he saw the light just in time.
This was a lovable story, overflowing with sweetness, and warmth but also hurt.
It’s all engaging and entertaining, with two lovable guys, a bunch of supportive friends and family, and a HEA, what more can you ask for?
