When one swing connects, and the bat hits the wall and turns into a man, my life changes forever. Ward swears he doesn’t usually go around breaking into stranger’s homes, but evidence suggests otherwise. Still, there’s something sweet about the guy that makes me feel protective of him… even if he is some kind of supe.
REVIEW:
This was a lovely tale, a welcome return to Ellwood and Brinnswick world and great to see much loved characters pop up again. It made me laugh especially at the beginning, Tennis Assassin was so funny and speaks to anyone who has ever been terrified of something flying around in a room and the lengths we would go to capture or kill it.
Jett is so sweet, he puts on an air of being wordly wise and a touch cookie and in some regards he is. He was kicked out by his parents for being gay and has been on his own for a long time. His bestie is Hugo and despite being included in Hugo’s boyfriends’ family and friends, he still feels lonely and longs for someone of his own.
Ward is such a naïve cute guy, who has been turfed out of his colony for being gay. He is used to being part of a large family and is struggling on his own, he misses his family so much. When his cousin says there is a way of coming back home he jumps at the possibility, never imagining the price he would have to pay and the trouble it would get him into.
Who knew that when the air conditioner stopped working, opening a window would lead to finding your one true love.
The whole chapter of Jett and Ward meeting for the first time was brilliant and Jett’s certainty that Ward was a vampire was hilarious. Jett is practical and so set on Ward being a vampire, that despite all the protestations from Ward that he isn’t a vampire, Jett is convinced he is and keeps trying to give him blood.
Jett feels the pull to Ward but is confused by it, as a human he is sure he wouldn’t get a soulmate but the pull to Ward is strong. When the consequences of following his cousin’s advice catch up with Ward and they both end up threatened. Jett turns to Hugo for help and Hugo’s mates’ powerful grandparents, parents and siblings rush to the rescue.
Jett and Ward are a cute couple who fight for their love and to make sure that each of them is protected and safe.
