I catfished my best friend’s Dad in prison.
But he’ll never know, right?
Scott
For almost a decade, I’ve been the secret pen pal of a convict.
My best friend’s father.
All I wanted was to help bridge the gap between father and son.
But the innocent act soon turns into more.
Through our letters I am able to be the brave, confident guy I am in fact, not.
So what if I fibbed a little when I sent him a false photograph of me? And reinvented myself in those letters?
Afterall, what’s the harm when Griff will never be released from prison?
Griff
I spent two decades behind bars, but nothing could have prepared me for Scott.
When I get out on parole, I find the little liar is nothing like he portrayed.
But I’m not mad.
I prefer the hot, stuttering, mess that he is.
Beneath the glasses, braces, and fun size package, he is far from tame when it counts.
I just have one problem.
My relationship with Scottie might thwart my reconciliation with my son.
But how can I choose between them?
One’s my flesh and blood. The other is my heart and soul.
The Nerd & The Ex-Con is a stand-alone M/M romance novel by Gianni Holmes writing as Sage Abbott. Same spice. Less triggers.
REVIEW:
This is a story that I struggled to get into, but in the end I’m glad I stuck with it.
Scottie is sweet and cute and he has the soul of an angel…and the sexual appetite of a little demon. His last boyfriend took complete advantage of Scottie’s willingness to make him happy and his fear. Never in a million years did Scott think he could fall for someone with such a violent past.
Griff has done his time and regrets every bad thing he ever did. Now that he’s out, it’s time to set his life right, first with his son and secondly with the little hottie who could be the answer to all his prayers.
The characters are great and I liked them both immediately. I’m not sure what it was the bogged it down for me, but once I got past the first couple of chapters, it evened out and really caught my interest.
I really felt for Scott and his struggle. Jay is really the only family he has and the thought of losing him is unbearable. But Griff is really hard to let go of and the thrill of having this big man entranced by him is something that Scott never dreamed of.
Griff really wants a relationship with his son Jay, but fears that it will never happen. It’s easy to see why Griff gets so caught up in Scott. When you aren’t liking yourself a lot and someone is looking at you with adoration, it’s impossible to ignore.
The author did a great job os showing how all three characters grew over the span of the story and all for different reasons. It was heartwrenching in places, and I wasn’t really expecting to hit that hard.
And its a whole lot steamy. And while I find my need for crazy sex to be lessening, it really did work for this story. Griff just got out of prison and Scott finally found the kind of man he needed. It was pretty smokin hot to be honest. And size difference is really one of my little guilty pleasures. There was nothing surprising here, it was obvious where it was going to go, but it was a lovely ride.
All in all, an enjoyable read and once I became invested in the story, I couldn’t put it down.
