TITLE: Curio
AUTHOR: C.S. Poe
PUBLISHER: Emporium Press
LENGTH: 60 pages
RELEASE DATE: February 5, 2024
BLURB:
Llewellyn Cooper and his aunt Julia run Curio Cabinet in New York City’s West Village, where the clientele is as strange as the junk being amassed in their secondhand shop. Llewellyn and Julia have been as thick as thieves his entire life, and Llewellyn can’t imagine being anywhere else six days a week—even if Julia’s bizarre habits and inappropriate conversations drive him crazy. That’s family, though, right?
When Llewellyn drums up the nerve to chat with a routine customer—in part due to curiosity, as Henry McLaughlin returns time and again to purchase nothing but old photographs, but also because the bearded and bow tie–wearing man is the finest thing to ever step foot inside Curio—it seems like Llewellyn will finally have a plus-one for future RSVPs. But just when things start looking up in the romance department, it turns out Henry might be too strange for the Cooper family.
And that’s saying something.
REVIEW:
Llewellyn Cooper and his eccentric and beloved Aunt Julia own and run a secondhand shop. Aunt Julia has raised Lew and he wouldn’t have it any other way. He loves the neighborhood and the vibe is great. He and Julia are curious about a regular customer who shows up to buy old vintage photos. He pushes every one of Lew’s buttons and his bow ties and thick thighs are bonuses 🙂
After a hilarious afternoon out, Lew invites Henry to dinner. They have a really good date. Sadly their evening activities 😉 get interrupted by a bizarre call from Aunt Julia. When Henry accompanies Lew to check on Julia, he does something unexpected that shocks Lew into a rash decision. Does Henry have a good reason for what he did? You’ll have to read it to find out.
Oh my! This is a surprising and adorable story 🙂 Lew is a unique character as is his Aunt Julia. I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall as Julia was raising Lew 😛 Henry is a sweetheart who is much more than meets the eye. Henry has his own past and quirky passtimes. I also loved the Emporium Easter egg 😀 Henry and Lew are good together and despite a slight derailing, I think there is a future for them! This is a highly enjoyable short read that fans of C.S. Poe will especially love 🙂 Read it even if you haven’t read any of her work before. Try it, you’ll like it 😉
