Max Thompson spends too much time at the skatepark, watching a mysterious bad boy he refers to as skater boy. Meanwhile, his college fund is running dry and it’s time to find a roommate to help with expenses. Hopefully one that’s not too weird this time. He’s avoided love to focus on school, but skater boy has buried into his heart.
Tanner Donahue is a hardworking young man, who skateboards and plays guitar in a cover band. But he needs a new place to live. He fell for his current roommate, a man who decided a relationship with a guy was not what he wanted and ended it.
Tanner appears on Max’s doorstep with his guinea pig, Stan, hoping to rent a room. Max is thrilled. But Max soon realizes if he’s going to date Tanner while living together, he needs to be careful. Tanner’s not too keen on falling for a roommate again. It doesn’t help that Tanner’s in the closet with his family and Max is out and proud. As Tanner’s life implodes, can they navigate their different worlds to find love?

REVIEW:
I had gotten so hooked on the Rock U series and the boys of Knot Me that I found I just had to read the series it spun off from. So glad I did!
Max Thompson just has to get through this last semester of college and then he would be set on his way with a Bachelors of Science in Sustainability from ASU. It’s his passion and he hasn’t let anybody sideline him from his goal. That is until a gorgeous “bad boy skater boy” has stole his attention at the park where he’s been eating his sandwiches at lunch. Even his best friend Josh is giving him a bad time about it. But then his mom gives him the bad news that the mutual fund holding his college funds took a dive he needs to do something fast. This is his last year and then he can start making a difference in this world. So opening his apartment for a roommate seems the best solution. But none with weird sex kinks **shutters hard** But when Tanner, aka Skater Boy, shows up his world is tilted. Yes he can live with him but how is he going to keep his hands off his crush?
Max has to be the sweetest, most caring Mother Hen I have read in forever! And add on that that he doesn’t seem to realize hot/gorgeous he is makes him a keeper in my book. Then add in sweet Tanner! He may put off bad boy vibes at the skate park but he is trustworthy, dependable, loving (I mean the boy rescued an abandoned guinea pig for goodness sakes!) and broken. His level of trust comes hard and that business with his fellow worker, now ex roommate Carter, shook his self-confidence. But how is he suppose to maintain a “roommate only” status with Max when all he can think about is kissing him!
I worried about poor Tanner. He really was fragile personally. His work ethic and professionalism was outstanding but that poor, sweet, beautiful boy had been discarded so much that he couldn’t help but be fragile mentally. I love that Max made sure that Tanner was cared for and protected…and always his! He couldn’t survive without his love of his life any more than Tanner could without his Max. And I loved that Max was a corny romantic. Many authors seem to feel like they have to have their men tough and all Alpha but Max was perfect just the way he was. And his romancing Tanner in Mexico on spring break made me swoon 💕
I really wish I would have read the free prequel “Catching Him” before I started this series. It introduces some of the key players and also what lead to Tanner and Carter’s split. So yes, Carter was public enemy #1 when I started reading this book, but my fondness grew for him after Tanner set down the rules. I look forward to his book next. Great start to what is destine to be another fabulous series by the talented author Christie Gordon. Huge thumbs for me 👍
