Chasing the Light by Mal Trevino
Granite-Glacier, Book 1
Aiden Marsh is nobody. After his long-ill mother dies, he’s left longing for an escape from the bills, the end of their apartment lease, and the loneliness of the city. When the internet friend he’s been crushing invites him on a trip to photograph the northern lights, how is he supposed to say no? There’s just the tiny little fact that he’s been lying about his life for the last year. But everyone lies on the internet, right?
Russell Merritt had it all. Had. Past tense. A meteoric rise to photographer fame: a storied freelance career and his own show on World Wild. What else could he want? Then it all came crashing down, and that’s exactly the question he has to answer. What else could he want?
Now, Russell and Aiden are taking on the wilds of Granite-Glacier–Russell’s old, forsaken hometown–on a photo excursion that lets them both forget the mess of their lives. But even their growing attraction can only keep reality at bay for so long. They’re going to have to drag all their secrets out into the light.
Chasing the Light is a sweet, all-vibes MM romance set in a small town. For fans of secret identities, forced proximity, the wild outdoors, and internet-friends-to-lovers.

I wake with a gasp, surging up from the thin mattress.
A fat drip of water splats down onto my forehead. It hits just above my left eyebrow and begins a slow, maddening slide toward my temple before running down my face. After the second drip, I squint up at the roof of the camper and see the origin. The roof is leaking directly above my face. I scrub them away and notice for the first time the way rain lashes the side of the camper. The whole thing rocks with the wind.
“Aiden?” Russell’s voice is clouded with sleep. “You okay?”
I laugh. “Your stupid camper leaks.”
Russell groans and buries his face in his pillow. “Shit, sorry. Guess I should have stress-tested it more.”
I shake my head like a dog to shed the water, and I hear it when it splashes against Russell. He laughs at the sudden, cold contact.
My shirt is soaked, too. How long was I asleep under the deluge? Okay, that’s an exaggeration, but still. I must have been even more tired than I realized after our hike.
Bracing myself for the cold, I scoot out of bed and rummage around in my backpack till I find a clean shirt.
“Are your blankets soaked?” Russell asks. “You look like you were caught out in the storm.”
“It’s fine,” I lie, peeling the cold, wet shirt away from my chilled skin and tugging the fresh one over my head.
“No, it’s not.” In the dark, I can hear Russell shift around, cotton sliding against skin. “Come on, I’ll share.”
Tha-thump. My heart kicks against my sternum. There’s no way, no bribe anyone could offer to make me climb into that bed. Those mattresses are barely wide enough for one person—barely wide enough for me and I’m about as stocky as a willow branch. Pressed in against Russell like that, I would lose my mind—and maybe my friend.
“I really don’t mind,” I rush to reassure him.
“Neither do I. Get in.”
My eyes are adjusting to the light, and I see him lift the edge of his sheet. He’s snugged up against the wall, his back flat against it, his arm raised to invite me in. Maybe I can just sleep outside on the ground. That would probably be smarter.
“Aiden,” Russell says plaintively, “pal.”
I groan. “Okay. Fine. But I’m a blanket hog.”
