Will Miles and Logan’s love endure this fresh new challenge? And can Logan convince Miles that he’ll stand by him through thick and thin?
REVIEW:
The final book in the series and one which I had been looking forward to, I was so intrigued about Miles and how his story would be tackled. He was mentioned in each of the previous books in the series but because of the accident and being in a coma for so many years, I didn’t really know anything about him as a person.
I can’t imagine what it would be like to be in a coma for 12 years and wake up to a totally different world then you knew before and to see yourself as a different person, one who has aged but you still remember being a teenager, it must be so surreal and difficult to deal with.
Miles has overcome so much, but he is struggling in this new reality. His Mum and friends have rallied round but he feels coddled and unable to articulate his emotions, his despair and worry. He doesn’t want to worry those who have been there for him during his time in a coma but those feelings of being adrift and lost aren’t going away.
Logan is recently divorced, he was closeted and so afraid, he convinced himself that he was attracted to women. His marriage crumbled when he couldn’t hide anymore but he is still coming to terms with his sexuality and what that means to him. He sold up and moved across the country and took over his Uncle’s Veterinary Practice in Twilight Falls.
They are an unlikely pair but the attraction between them is undeniable. Logan doesn’t see Miles as a victim who needs to be handled carefully and Miles feels free with someone who doesn’t know all his history, someone he can talk to and connect with without the accident getting in the way. Logan gives Miles so much confidence to be himself and tackle life head on. Miles’s inexperience with romance and relationships enables Logan to not only teach him but to feel confident in his own sexuality.
I loved seeing all the overprotective friends grilling Logan and his ease and ability to stand his ground, he understood instinctively that he needed their approval if his relationship with Miles was to stand the test of time. The surprising twist of Izzy and how wonderful it was that Logan offered an ear to her without judgement but with so much compassion. The two dogs were brilliant and a lovely addition to the story.
I am sad to see the end of this series but so glad each of them got their happy ending with Miles being poignant but with so much joy and happiness.
