Wanted: Demon assistant for incubus genius. Personal services required…
Nobody ever expected to find a secret cave protected by a giant puzzle door in the mountains near our village. Even more surprising was the knowledge that it’s been there for thousands of years and was created by a dragon. I’m not the only one who’s dying to find out what’s inside.
It’s no hardship to assist the puzzle expert who’s coming to solve the door. That thing is an incredible feat of engineering, and the man who’ll solve it is bound to be intelligent and interesting. But from the moment I meet Camden Torrence, I’m forced to reassess… everything.
He’s intelligent and interesting, sure. But he’s also scattered. Clumsy. And I want to bury my face in his mop of curls and stay there forever.
A relationship wasn’t on my agenda, no matter what my matchmaking family wants. But as the weeks go by and we get closer to discovering what the secret treasure is, Cam becomes an integral, undeniable part of my life. How can I not fall for a man who, despite past hurts, is the living embodiment of sunshine in our snow-laden village?
I never thought the love of my life would turn out to be an adorable, absent-minded incubus, but now I can’t imagine existing without him. The challenge? Convincing him to stay even after the puzzle is solved.
REVIEW:
What a great addition to this series. Here is my usual disclaimer – you must read the first book in this series as this book builds on the first book but focuses on a different couple. We also have visits from characters from the previous series. The world building is expanding and creating a very magical environment. I’m in love with this picturesque little town in the mountains of Switzerland and the special characters that live there. I also must mention the ability of the demons to teleport. What a cool way to travel. I would love to be able to have dinner in Paris and then be home in time for bed.
In this story we have Cam, the incubus, and Micah, the demon. There is some serious instant attraction and some very low angst insta love in this story. What starts out as a loose work colleague with benefits, quickly morphs into a bonded mates love. Cam is the puzzle solver, and he can’t wait to get his hands on this puzzle door left behind by the dragons.
Up close, even in the not-ideal lighting, the puzzle is… perfect. I can’t think of another word. It’s huge, of course, but even on a small scale, it would be perfection. The intricacy, the joy of it… My eye tracks the patterns, looking for the starting point, but then an anomaly leaps out at me. Oh ho. The designer of this liked tricks, it seems.
Micah is the demon tasked with watching over and assisting Cam with his puzzle solving task. Louisa has created wonderful characters that you instantly start rooting for and cheer them on as they find their way to each other. With this series, she has created a low angst storyline. Once again, she has created another fascinating side character, Damaris, who likes to intimidate her grandsons into following her plans for their lives. Cam and Micah do their best to thwart her plans though.
If you love sweet low angst stories, then this is the story and series for you. I highly recommend this book. It is a fantastic addition to this series and universe, and you should run to your computer, phone, or eBook and purchase this book. I eagerly anticipate the next book in this series.
