Love Bytes is very excited to welcome to their blog author Rory Maxwell who is here to talk about her new release “Something Unforgettable: An MM Daddy Romance”.
In honor of the release of the fourth book in her Split Rock Ranch series, she would love to give someone an ebook copy of book one, Something Undeniable, which is Micah and Ryan’s story.
Welcome Rory 🙂
Blurb:
Finn likes working at his grandfather’s feed and general store. It’s familiar. Comfortable. People aren’t as intimidating when he’s behind the counter. Outside of work . . . well, “shy” would be putting it nicely. He’s a mess, and at this rate he’s going to be a single mess forever. Who’d want a guy who can barely get a word out? Definitely not the handsome older man who’s started showing an interest. No, Xavier is out of Finn’s league.
Xavier DeCain came to Split Rock to help out a friend—fixing problems is what he does, though usually there’s more Hollywood glamor involved. He didn’t plan to keep coming back to the sleepy town. And he definitely wasn’t planning on Finn, whose pretty blushes are irresistible. But Xavier has specific tastes—not to mention an intense desire to be in charge. He isn’t sure innocent young Finn will be able to handle it.
Their mutual attraction is too strong to ignore, but for a relationship to work, they’ll both need to fight their demons. Finn will have to trust Xavier to be careful with his wounded heart, and Xavier will have to reexamine the things he finds most important.
Something Unforgettable is a 75k MM romance novel. It includes a sweet boy who’s afraid to step out of his shell, a caretaking man who’s been burned before, plenty of heat, an age gap, hurt/comfort, first times, and found family. It’s the fourth book in the Split Rock Ranch series but can be enjoyed as a stand-alone.
From Chapter 1 –
Now that he’d stopped fighting it, Xavier knew the magnetic pull went both ways—he couldn’t drag his eyes away. It was only slightly less distracting than the way his palms tingled with the need to touch. Was Finn’s skin as smooth as it looked? Would he let Xavier run fingers through all that dark, wavy hair and push it out of those beautiful eyes? He swallowed as said eyes searched the room and then landed on him.
Finn froze, for once not ducking his head or looking away. Instead, he flashed Xavier a quick grin and then—fuck, kill Xavier now—his tongue, red from his drink, flicked over his lower lip. Micah leaned in and said something in his ear that made Finn’s eyes slide away and his shoulders curl in.
Xavier tensed. Had Micah upset him? He was about to head in their direction and— Well, he wasn’t sure what he’d do when he got there, but he wanted that little grin back on Finn’s lips. Before Xavier could move, Finn’s chest heaved with a visible breath, then he shoved his drink into Micah’s hands and marched across the space between them, brow furrowed. He ducked around a chatting group and came to a stop just a few feet short of Xavier.
“Hi,” he said, Xavier having to read the word off his lips.
“Hi,” Xavier returned, trying not to let his amusement show.
Finn was drunk, his eyes glassy but determined. He took another step toward Xavier, then another, until there were inches separating them instead of feet and he had to crane his head back to see Xavier’s face.
“I, uh.” He licked his lips again. A blush raced up his throat and landed in his cheeks. Xavier’s hand was halfway to caressing the flushed skin before he could stop himself.
He waited for Finn to find his words. A moment ago he’d looked like he was on a mission, but it was possible he hadn’t gotten further in his planning than saying hi.
“I want to go on the mechanical bull,” Finn finally blurted out. “Will you come with me so I don’t fall?” He gave Xavier a hopeful look that, even if Xavier had been so inclined, would have dissolved any protest.
Xavier looked toward the machine. Another young man was clinging to its back, partway to the floor but still holding on with a death grip to the bucking plastic. Finally, the guy hit the padded ground. Xavier winced, then almost startled at a cool hand squeezing his forearm. Finn tugged to get his attention again.
“Not like that. Micah promises they’ll go slow for doubles.” His hand rubbed absently against the hair on Xavier’s arm and Xavier’s skin tingled at the innocent touch. What would happen if he pulled Finn closer and took that hand in both of his until he warmed the boy up? Like he could hear Xavier’s thoughts, Finn swayed toward him, his other hand coming up to toy with the bottom button on Xavier’s shirt. “Please?”
Fucking hell. Xavier was going to be riding a mechanical bull with a hard-on at this rate.
Rory Maxwell (she/her) discovered romance novels on her mom’s bookshelf when she was probably too young to be reading them—the reward for being a nosy kid with great reading comprehension. The magic of a dial-up internet connection led her to the wonderful world of MM fanfiction a few years later and she fell in love with the genre. In 2019 she woke up with a plot bunny, opened a word doc, and started trying to figure out how this writing stuff worked.
Rory grew up outside of Washington, DC, moved away, and then came back for reasons she doesn’t fully understand. An artist and writer, she always has too many exciting ideas and not nearly enough free time. One day, she hopes to escape to the mountains and open an LGBTQIA+ friendly bed and breakfast where she can work from home and write as much as she wants. In the meantime, she splits her time between her day job and writing MM romance with endearing characters, lots of feels, plenty of heat, and a dash of kink.
Rory brought a wonderful giveaway with her.

This sounds like it will be very good. Can’t wait to see how Finn steps out of his comfort zone.
