AUTHOR: Cara Dee
PUBLISHER: Self Published
LENGTH:167 Pages
RELEASE DATE: December 15, 2023
BLURB:
The annual holiday office party is the one occasion my silver fox boss isn’t his rigid, uptight self—not to mention completely liberated of a sense of humor. For a single, magical evening, he replaces Armani with a Santa suit and grabs a couple drinks with his employees. He might even chuckle once or twice!
Through no fault of my own, I end up half-naked and embarrassingly drunk on candy cane Jell-O shots. I plant my sweet rear on his lap, call him Daddy Christmas, tell him I’ve been a good boy, and ask for a very specific gift.
So I’m pretty sure I’m about to get fired.
REVIEW:
Parker wants a Daddy, preferably someone like his boss Wyatt Abrams. Wyatt is a grumpy, silver fox. A divorcee with no apparent sense of humour and no capacity to smile. After delivering a present to the wrong Mr Abrams, Parker convinces Wyatt to car share the following day and gives him home made cookies, but even they do not appear to make his boss sweeter, or do they? Is that a smile he sees on Wyatt’s face when Parker catches him eating them?
At his Christmas party Parker ends up very, very drunk, wearing only his underwear and a Santa hat and on Wyatt’s lap. At the end of the evening Parker is so drunk Wyatt ends up taking him home. Waking up hungover, in his boss’s spare room, the next morning Parker is convinced he will be fired. Imagine his surprise and delight that the opposite seems to be happening and instead his dreams might be coming true. Maybe somewhere along the way the home-made cookies and Parkers joy at Christmas have worked their magic on softening Wyatt up.
I like Cara Dee’s prior works, I like Daddy books and I love Christmas books but for some reason this book really didn’t work very well for me. I have pondered on this for a couple of days to try and understand why and I think it’s because of a couple of things.
Wyatt’s transformation from grump to smiling daddy felt too quick and easy.
Parker is so ridiculously himself that I really don’t know how he would ever remain employed in a professional work environment (Ok I get this is a book but I really would hate to work with him no matter how good at his job he is.)
Saying all that if you want a no angst, full of sex, Christmas Daddy read with a happy ever after then this might be the book for you.
