From USA Today Bestselling Author Kelly Fox comes a Wild Heart Ranch Christmas novella.
I’ve loved Gael Hernandez from the moment I laid eyes on him. We had a moment back in the summer, but he needed time to recover from the traumatic events that reshaped his family.
It’s now Christmas, and I think my talented shoemaker is finally ready to let me love him for the rest of his life.
The only problem? I’ve been summoned to join my family in England, and it’s an invitation I cannot refuse. Finding it impossible to leave Gael now that we’ve finally admitted feelings for each other, I bring him with me.
I should have known better.
Unlike the Hernandez family’s warm Christmas traditions, this visit has nothing to do with the holidays and everything to do with my father’s designs on my life going forward. Designs that don’t include the beautiful man with stained fingertips and a heart as big as the sky.
The Christmas Summons is a spicy, round-the-world Christmas novella that features a British aristocrat in Hawaiian shirts, a Mexican shoemaker with clever hands, and an estate straight out of Pride and Prejudice.
REVIEW:
Note: This novella includes a number of characters from the Wild Hearts Ranch series so new readers may be a little bit lost to who all the secondary characters are if not familiar with this universe.
Tolly, a British lord, has loved Gael, a Mexican shoemaker/designer every since he first laid eyes on him. Gael has been through some stuff though and he isn’t ready for a relationship. so Tolly bides his time and makes it his business to help Gael with his business and buy the property next to the ranch and build his own Texas getaway cabin. They are truly meant to be though 😉
When Tolly shows up in Texas for Christmas, Gael is finally ready for more than friends. His family is very supportive and Tolly is of course happy about it – although still a little nervous. He’s doesn’t want to rush Gael into anything he’s not ready for. Gael gets good advice though and encourages Tolly to move forward.
While they plan a nice Christmas in Texas, Tolly’s family starts trying to interfere. He ignores his father, but when his sister starts calling, well he can’t ignore her. Turns out his father has made a big mess of things and Tolly will have to return to England to deal with it. He decides to ask Gael to go with him.
What transpires after their arrival befits any Jane Austin tale. Of course the lad manager and his family are wonderful. Tolly’s parents? Not so much. And of course the intrigue causes some misunderstandings 😉 But in the end, Tolly, Gael and Tolly’s sister Bea get to live their own lives.
This is a wonderful holiday story that would make a great rom-com movie! There are plenty of romances to sort out and plenty of class issues to deal with and best of all, plenty of lovely characters who end up with the loves of their lives. Happy Christmas everyone! Recommended!
