Joe knows where he is going in life. But one crazy road trip just might change everything.
Joe Blankenship knows where he’s going. He’s on track to marry the boss’s daughter and become heir apparent to a multi-million dollar medical supply business. The financial security he never had growing up is within his grasp along with a glitzy Manhattan lifestyle. All he has to do is get to New York by Christmas Eve for his engagement party.
Joe didn’t count on getting grounded in Florida thanks to a hurricane. He couldn’t have anticipated having to rent a broken-down car for the long drive north. And he certainly never foresaw being stuck with a passenger like Remy Guidry, a sweet-natured Cajun boy, social worker at a children’s home, and free spirit. Remy is the opposite of everything Joe has worked for. But he just might teach Joe, not only the spirit of Christmas, but what’s truly of value in life.
Planes, Trains, and Hurricanes is a Christmas road trip, forced proximity, opposites attract romance.
REVIEW:
It’s that special time of year and Eli Easton has presented us with her newest Christmas treat. 🎄
What could be worse than be stranded in Florida with a hurricane barreling down on you. Missing you own engagement announcement party. And that engagement is to your boss’s only daughter. Well being stranded in Florida with a hurricane barreling down on you and the respite care home calls to tell you to come now if you want one last Christmas with your absentee mother and have to bum a ride with a complete stranger a friend hooked you up with who is driving the last rent-a-wreck in Florida. And then you have to fight the storm with side routes. But it turns out it’s not all that bad. This guy Remy is pretty nice and definitely easy on the eyes. And he has grown up in Louisiana so he knows his way around driving in a Hurricane or two.
I had no idea that hurricanes went as late as December in Florida. I knew not to travel there in the summer and fall because they can be a doozy. But even Santa couldn’t keep Hurricane Jack from wreaking havoc on the East Coast in this sweet Christmas adventure.
We hear this story from only Joe’s point of view and he definitely isn’t in love with his boss’s daughter. This is a marriage of convenience for all parties. Allison came across as the spoiled little rich girl that Daddy gives every thing to. And Joe knew what poverty was and had no desire to live that way in his adulthood. So he pushes hard for all the bells and whistles that life had to offer. Even if it mean a loveless marriage and working hard to please her daddy. At least there’s golf and tennis once and awhile of time permits.
Remy was the breathe of fresh air that Joe had no idea he even needed. With Remy around antacid tablets weren’t needed. And a stop at an amusement park, while you are running ahead of a hurricane barreling at you, seems like a good idea. But Remy does more than soothe Joe. He lights a fire he has never experienced before and it has him questioning everything in his nice, tidy future. Thankfully Joe’s mom is the voice of reason and helps guide her son in the right direction finally.
This was a sweet Christmas treat on a cold winter’s evening.
