A Northern Horizons story
The most magical gifts are unexpected.
It’ s Christmas in Port Essington. Jimmy Downing and Oscar Yates have settled into their lives after returning from Telegraph Creek at the end of the summer. They have jobs, a new dog named Blaze and a real chance at happiness and success.
A letter to their friends in Telegraph Creek has gone unanswered, and there is a chance that it might never have been received. All they can do is wait— and hope that all is well.
With the help of Clarence and Irene, Jimmy arranges a special surprise for Oscar, and when things don’ t go as planned, he wonders if the holiday will measure up to his expectations. But the Christmas season in Northern British Columbia is magical, and fate might have a surprise in store for Jimmy, too.
REVIEW:
Jimmy and Oscar, my heart
They live in a small home in Port Essington, British Columbia, (now a ghost town btw) it’s Christmas time. They are thriving well and are happy. They keep their relationship as husbands secret, except for their dear friends/neighbors Clarence and Irene, who have a same kind of secret.
Through letters, they stay in contact with their friends in Telegraph Creek. Oscar left his dear horse Onyx with his friends there, he misses his therapy horse terribly.
Jimmy knows the perfect Christmas gift for Oscar.
“Hell,” Oscar breathed, “I never realized makin’ bread was so…” He cleared his throat.
“Arousin’?” I asked.
“Yeah.” It was barely a breath.
Jimmy and Oscar together privately? They are so dang and there’s a lot of Oscar is seductive and insatiable and Jimmy gives him everything he wants, with all the love he feels for him.
My heart, I’m always getting warm watching them.
They are just marvelous, the author crafted two absolutely amazing, unique characters.
Read their previous extraordinary stories, you will be blown away!
The author has such a lively compelling style of writing, I felt part of the story, I was there in that particular time of early 1900, saw all the surroundings and smelled the air, I felt the emotions, the warmth, the love. It was, just as in the previous stories of Jimmy and Oscar, exceptional.
Such an endearing, loving read, goosebumps!
